Yelena is a major antagonist of the Attack on Titan franchise. She is Zeke Yeager's devoted subordinate who wishes to make her mark on history by aiding him in his plan to remove Eldians and save the world from Titans.
She is voiced by Mitsuki Saiga in Japanese and Anairis Quiñones in English.

What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- Hid her true origins as a natural Marleyan and faked her citizenship as a conscripted soldier from a fallen nation conquered by Marley.
- Betrayed her own military and comrades for her own sake and selfish dreams of grandeur, wanting to make herself a great historical figure for humanity's history, dishonestly claiming she was heroically and selflessly saving Eldia, Marley, and all humanity from the cycle of hatred and the terror of the Titans.
- Despite knowing about Zeke's plan for Eldia's "euthanasia", she fooled her accomplices into believing it was to free and revive their conquered homelands from Marley.
- Killed several of her fellow soldiers who suspected her background, or doubted the Volunteers and their loyalty. She indiscriminately killed potential Marleyan spies, and reluctant and liability Volunteers alike.
- She killed her commanding officers for Zeke to establish an alliance with the Eldians of Paradis Island.
- She took part in Zeke's plan to poison Paradis' military's high command, by having the Marleyan captives serve them wine tainted with Zeke's spinal fluid, so that Zeke can launch a coup and take control over the Walls.
- Aided Zeke and Eren's plan to turn as many major nations as possible against Paradis by attacking her own homeland Marley, causing the Raid on Liberio which caused numerous casualties.
- Shot her own comrade Griez dead for mocking Sasha and calling the Eldian people devils. While Greiz's behavior was indeed completely inappropriate and cruel, shooting him dead because of it was far out of proportion.
- Having no remorse for betraying her own former comrades of Marley's military during the Revenge for Liberio at Shiganshina District, instead reveling at the deaths of the soldiers and destruction of the airships of the Marley Air Force by Zeke.
- Has zero regrets for causing the deaths of Commander Pixis and all the wine-marked soldiers that had to be put down after Zeke turned them into Titans. On the contrary, she even previously mocked Pixis for his fate and despised the Eldian military for having schemed to kill Zeke and not trusting the Volunteers.
- Attempted to disrupt the alliance between the Marleyans and Eldians against the Rumbling, and put them against each other by bringing up their previous mutual atrocities such as the attacks on the Walls and the Raid on Liberio, and personal losses such as the deaths of Marco, Sasha, and Bertolt. All out of spite for having failed to mark her name in history and for being exposed by Magath and Pieck as a native Marleyan citizen.
- Despite her previous claim of wanting to save both Marley and Eldia, along with the rest of the world, from the cycle of hatred, she exposes how self-centered she is when Zeke's plans are foiled. After learning that she was not going to become one of "humanity's saviors", she stopped caring about the lives of anyone in the world, including those of her fellow Volunteers, whom she used for her agenda, not even caring that her own home country Marley was going to be trampled, along with the families of her friends trapped in Paradis.
- She remained apathetic when knowing that the Rumbling was destroying her homeland Marley, and that all humanity everywhere in the world was getting massacred by it. She only promised to help locating the Founding Titan after General Magath started torturing her.
- Despite her later working with the Eldians and the other Marleyans to stop the Rumbling, it's only due to her being defeated and having lost all reasons to care or to resist torture from her captors, simply requesting them to acknowledge that Zeke's plan was right, or at least more humane than Eren's.
What Prevents Her from Being Pure Evil?[]
- She has standards against racism. Unlike most of her society in Marley and the majority of humanity, she lacks the common hatred and prejudice towards Eldians, as she treats them as people equal to others. She even shot Griez for insulting Sasha's heritage as an Eldian.
- Claims to have felt genuinely sad when she learned that Sasha died.
- In an anime exclusive scene of the epilogue, three years after the Rumbling, she and Onyankopon help refugees of the Rumbling in the Marleyan continent. She also cried when she saw a baseball bask, as it reminded her of Zeke, indicating that she truly cared for him and still mourns for him, at least in the anime version.
Trivia[]
- A final scene exclusive to the anime shows Yelena helping refugees of the Rumbling and genuinely mourning for Zeke. Additionally, the special Bad Boy chapter included in Attack on Titan Art Book FLY shows Yelena helping plant new trees to replace the ones destroyed in the Rumbling. However, these scenes don't necessarily disqualify her, since there is no indication that she feels remorse for her crimes.
