You did well to survive and not lose hope!
~ Sou Fueki congratulating Haruto Soma for not giving into despair.
Unforgivable... Utterly unforgivable! I'll have you cowering in fear and despair as you die!
~ Sou Fueki to Nitoh after he stopped the second Sabbath

Sou Fueki Sou Fueki, also know as Wiseman, the White Wizard, or Kamen Rider Wiseman is the overarching antagonist of Kamen Rider Wizard. He is the father of Koyomi Fueki and the leader of the phantoms who opposes Haruto Soma.

As Sou Fueki, he was portrayed by Narushi Ikeda, while his Kamen Rider Wiseman and Wiseman forms were voiced by Toshitsugu Takashina and Toshio Furukawa respectively. In his Kamen Rider Wiseman form, he was suit performed by Jun Watanabe.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close To Being Pure Evil?[]

In General[]

  • As the leader of the phantoms and the one who orchestrated the events of the whole series, he’s ultimately responsible for the actions Medusa, Phoenix, and Gremlin, and all the other phantoms attempting to drive multiple gates (including children) to despair.
    • In order to bring them to despair, he would often have them directly threaten the life of a gate’s loved one (weather it be killing them or injuring them), destroy an object they held dear, or exploit a fear/insecurity of theirs. Following this, the phantom inside of them who would proceed to destroy their host’s underworld in their subconscious, causing their body to gradually and painfully crack and shatter into pieces and die, releasing the phantom in the process.
  • While there are phantoms in the series who are heinous in their own right such as Phoenix, Leigon, Gremlin, Prime Minster Ogma, and the Ogre Phantom (whether it be as a result of them being extremely brutal, having their own agenda or being independent, or betraying him ), he’s ultimately responsible for all of them becoming a problem in the first place (whether it be to the protagonists like Phoenix, Leigon, the Drake phantom and the Ogre Phantom or to both himself and the protagonists like Gremlin) due to him creating them during the first ritual.
    • With Phoenix, if hadn’t sacrificed Yugo, Phoenix wouldn’t have gone on to betray him and attempt to burn down the entire city of Tokyo.
    • With Gremlin, if it weren’t for him turning Sora into a phantom, Gremlin wouldn’t have killed him and Koyomi and take the philosopher’s stone from her and go on a mass killing spree across the city to try and fuel it with Mana to become a human again in. Granted this isn’t played sympathetically but still.
    • With the Drake phantom, if he didn’t sacrifice ogma, he wouldn’t have gone on to create Magic Land and nearly drive all citizens of into despair with the Thanatos machine
    • With the Ogre phantom, if he didn’t sacrifice Osuka and turn him into the phantom, he wouldn’t have gone on to cannibalize other phantoms and nearly kill Haruto in the wizard section of the film Kamen Rider × Kamen Rider Gaim & Wizard: The Fateful Sengoku Movie Battle.
  • While his whole motivation was to revive Koyomi, this doesn’t make him an anti-villain as his methods to do this are extremely heinous and cruel as it involved mentally tormenting lots of people to death (including children). Additionally, he shows no remorse for all his crimes as when Haruto called him out on the amount of people he made suffer and fall into despair, he responded by saying their’s were insignificant compared to the suffering he felt when he lost Koyomi and that he would make any sacrifice.
    • Furthermore, he also ignored Koyomi’s final wish to not over do it for her sake as well as the doll Koyomi’s pleas to stop what he was doing, despite the fact his actions were hurting her friends and causing her distress. In the six part Kamen Rider Ghost: Legendary! Riders' Souls! series, he states to Ghost that he only valued one life and that there was no limit to the amount of people he would sacrifice, showing he’s not changed and has no remorse for what he has done.
  • He doesn’t really care about the Phantoms at all and only used them to create 3 more magicians and eventually revive Koyomi back to her normal self, even going so far as to help Haruto defeat them by creating rings for them. A great example of this is with Medusa, whom he helps Mayu defeat and eventually kills her in episode 47 once she outlived her usefulness, despite the fact that she had been nothing but extremely loyal to him throughout the entire series.

Background[]

  • Performed a sacrificial ritual called the Sabbat during a solar eclipse, which involved capturing many Gates and causing them to fall into despair and give birth to their phantoms.
    • Among them was Mayu Inamori’s sister Misa.
  • Upon realizing that he had only revived Koyomi as a doll with no memories of her past and that Haruto managed to not fall into despair, he planned a second and larger sabbath, this time involving using Kamen Riders for the energy rather than Gates. More specifically, three more humans who could repress their Phantoms so that he could turn them into Magicians and use them to perform a more bigger sabbath ritual.
  • Allowed Medusa to kill both Misa and Mayu’s parents, leaving the former an orphan.

Kamen Rider × Kamen Rider Wizard & Fourze: Movie War Ultimatum[]

  • Had Phoenix and Medusa kidnap Yu Kamimura and four children gates and give them ago to the Akumaizers, allowing the three demons to use the Infant Monster Plant machine on them and use the magic from the kids underworld to revive the Kajin from previous shows (Dopants, Yummies, and Zodiarts) and create a monster army and wipe out humanity.
    • It’s heavily implied that the reason he did this was to cause despair on a global scale, despite the fact that non gates would also be killed in the process. As a result of this, the four kids were nearly trapped in a fate worse than death where they would be trapped in Yu’a dream and constantly be attacked by the kajin before Yu saved them in a repeat for all eternity.

Kamen Rider Wizard[]

  • In episode 18, he sent in Manticore to keep an eye on Kosuke/Kamne Rider Beast.
  • In episode 30, upon learning that Gremlin had freed the phantom Legion to get his attention, he personally chained Gremlin and intended on killing him for his defiance, only to spare him when he revealed that he knew a little bit of his true goals.
  • In episode 41, he defeated Kosuke and chained up and kidnapped a child gate named Yuzuru Ijima when he refused to become a magician.
  • In episode 43, he nearly killed Kosuke, this also happened in episode 49 & 50 when he attempted to kill him after he foiled his plan.
  • In episode 48, he chained up and kidnapped Yamamoto after he refused to become a magicians and later brainwashed both him and Yuzuru into kidnapping Haruto and Mayu so that he could use them to finally prepare the second Sabbath ritual.
  • In episode 49, he chained the four magicians to different places throughout Tokyo and later used them to extend the range of the Sabbath to turn all the gates in the city into phantoms so that their mana would go into the Philosopher stone inside Koyomi and revive her back to her normal self, despite the fact that the ritual would also kill non-gates as well in the process.

What Prevents Him From Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He is somewhat tragic as its revealed that prior to the series, he had lost both his wife and his daughter Koyomi, leading to him falling into a deep despair and trying to bring back the latter through rituals. Although this doesn’t justify his actions, it’s still played for sympathy. Haruto even admits in the Kamen Rider Wizard novel to express sympathy towards him.
  • Regardless of how evil he became, he still loved his daughter Koyomi as his entire motivation was to revive Koyomi back to her original self, even if it meant disregarding her wishes. In his final appearance, he even states that Koyomi was the only person he cared about (besides his wife, whom he’s heavily implied to have loved too).
  • His first death at the hands of Sora Takigawa/Gremlin is played for sympathy as sad music plays while he looks at Koyomi once last time.
