ā€œ You'll remember the name of William Labott when the fires of the Apocalypse are raging around you. When you realize that, just as you and your kind have turned your backs on Him, so shall He turn His back on you at the Second Coming. ā€ž
~ Labott justifying his crimes.

William Labott is the main antagonist of the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode "The Book of Esther". He is a religious fanatic who imprisons, beats, and tortures his children to indoctrinate them with his twisted, apocalyptic version of Christianity.

He was portrayed by Ray McKinnon.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • Lied to his wife that what they were doing were for an extremist ideal and it wasn't a bad decision, but this seems to be a lie and a delusion from William.
  • He regularly abuses his nine children over a long period of time through torture which consists of starving, whipping, and chaining them up.
    • His oldest daughter seems to be around the age of a teenager but its slowly revealed that she is 27, showing how bad the abuse is.
  • He forced his eldest daughter, Esther Labott, to have sex with the eldest son to "beget" a new race, making him the only character to force another character to commit incest, this is also rape by proxy as they don't want to have sex, but he forced them.
    • It's implied he did it to the younger children as well.
  • Instigated a shootout with Olivia Benson, Fin Tutuola, Amanda Rollins, and several police officers, getting 3 of his children killed, shooting 3 police officers, and trying to shoot the others.
  • Instead of realizing it's his fault, he says that his children and him will raise to heaven after their death and watch the rest of the world burn.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • Despite not taking responsibility for their deaths and believing that their lives being taking will make his family fight the evils in the world, he still loved his children by giving himself up to be arrested for their safety and crying when Esther and his eldest son died.
