“ | What’s the matter, Foxy? I thought you wanted an audience! | „ |
~ William Afton. |
“ | The hidden room in the bathroom hallway. The boards. Break them. I'm in there. I'm in there. Michael. Your father. I'm your father. I want to talk to you. I only want to see my boy. | „ |
~ William Afton, trying to manipulate Michael Afton into letting him out of the safe room. |
“ | I went up there about four times. Picked the worst kids of the bunch, took them back, and I gave it to them. I couldn't do much, of course, they'd start squealing. So I made it quick enough to be efficient, but long enough to make it last... It was hell for them, but it was heaven for me. And, then I leave. Without the slightest bit of guilt! So, there you go. Now that you've heard this, you should know I check this spot every day to see if this tape has moved. I've seen it so many times I'll be able to notice even the slightest difference. I will know. So you better put it back, Michael... as neatly as you can, and start running. | „ |
~ William Afton at the end of "Memories", talks about his murders and how he will kill Michael after he stopped listening to the tape. |
William Afton is the main antagonist of the FNaF VHS series by Squimpus McGrimpus, serving as the overarching antagonist of Season 1 and the main antagonist of Season 2.
After losing his son Joseph, he murdered five children between 1984 to 1985 to let out his anger. He is based on his original counterpart, mainly from the first four games.
He was voiced by Nolan David.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- Even before Michael accidentally killed Joseph, William was an emotionally abusive father towards Michael. He considered Michael to be a failure and not worth his time, and it is implied William physically beat him more than once, evidenced in a later tape when he even admits that he missed hearing Michael cry when he used to scream at him.
- He also placed all of the blame on Michael for accidentally killing Joseph, putting him at fault for how he couldn't "accept" that he just loved his younger son more, completely ignoring the fact that the whole reason Michael picked on Joseph, to begin with, was due to the neglect and abuse he inflicted on him.
- After Joseph's death, he wanted to kill Michael and only refrained since he would get caught over this. This only prompted Afton to get worse with his abuse of Michael.
- He slaughtered five children to let out his anger over losing his son, Joseph and stuffed their corpses in the animatronics. He did this because he didn't think he would be caught, unlike if he were to kill Michael at the time. He even admitted that he believed the children deserved it simply because they were like Michael. He also admitted that it was "hell for them (the children), but it was heaven for me (himself)."
- He decided to destroy the animatronics that contained the bodies and spirits of the children he murdered after several years. He put on the Spring Bonnie costume in an attempt to scare them off.
- After becoming Springtrap, he kept justifying how his victims deserved to die and after he was relocated into Fazbear's Frights he saw Foxy's mask which reminded him of Michael, which fuelled him with murderous hatred, even saying it made him feel alive.
- During his isolation, William expressed how much he hated his last remaining son, saying that he would kill him and he was going to make him hurt.
- He kept taunting Michael to come into Fazbear's Frights, claiming that he would give him "the warmest welcome imaginable."
- After Michael arrives at Fazbear's Frights, he is willing to kill his son, even attempting to do so.
- Despite losing his son Joseph, William was already a terrible father to Michael, and losing Joseph does not justify his murdering other kids.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He still cared about his son Joseph, even after his death. It should also be noted that Joseph's death was the main reason why William became the villain we see throughout the series. He even stated that he hoped God was treating Joseph better than himself and was saddened when mentioning Joseph's death. Despite this, William still hated his other son, Michael even before the Incident, calling him a failure and a child not worth his time. It is also likely that his abuse of Michael and playing favorites with Joseph, led his older son to bully and terrorize his brother, leading to the Bite of '83, thus making William indirectly responsible for Joseph's death, thus losing almost all sympathy, making this is a minor prevention.
- Also, if the series events follow the events of Five Nights at Freddy's 1-4, it is possible that like in the actual canon, William ignored his youngest son's obvious fear of the animatronics and kept dragging him to the restaurants despite it. However, the fact that he was deeply hurt by Joseph's death makes it clear that he did indeed love him, but only to a certain extent as he is indirectly responsible for his death, further hammering home that this is only a minor prevention.
