I loved my wife very much. She taught me a valuable lesson. If you do not control your own fate, it will control you. So I took control. I brought them all here to die. But now there is only one left: Mr. Carver, the man who murdered my wife.
~ The White Death mistaking Ladybug for the Carver before attempting to kill him.
The Carver, I want the Carver, I hired the Carver!
~ The White Death to Ladybug in his final confrontation.
DO NOT CALL ME BRO!!!
~ The White Death's breakdown and last words, to Ladybug before his death.

Roshan Reznikov, better known as the White Death, is the main antagonist of the 2022 action/comedy film Bullet Train, based on Kōtarō Isaka's 2010 dark comedic thriller novel Maria Beetle.

He is the cruel and brutal leader of a criminal empire in Kyoto, Japan, who seized control over it by betraying and killing its former leader. The White Death is also the father of the Prince and the arch-nemesis of Ladybug and the Elder.

He was portrayed by Michael Shannon, who also played Zod in Man of Steel.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He worked his way up in an organization that’s a criminal empire and got a large group of criminals to kill the leader of the empire, Minegishi only to take over it for himself.
  • He disowned his daughter, the Prince, and praised his son more which led her on a path of villainy, one that is a revenge plan against him, later also ordering for her to be killed.
  • When his wife got caught in an assassination that killed her while trying to bail his son out, he blamed Carver, Lemon, Tangerine, the Hornet and his son for her death.
  • He got Lemon, Tangerine, the Hornet and his son on the same train giving them the same mission to retrieve a briefcase on the same train hoping all of them would kill each other.
  • He killed The Elder’s wife and also destroyed his house,
  • His plan nearly succeeded as he got Tangerine, the Hornet (though she definitely had it coming) and his son killed on the Bullet Train.
  • He and his men fought the remaining assassins on board the train which later caused the train to go out of control and get destroyed once it hit Kyoto.
  • When he realized Carver wasn’t on the train and Ladybug is his replacement, he tried killing him for provoking him.
  • He also wanted to kill The Elder and his family, as well as find Carver and kill him as well.
  • He tried to shoot Ladybug but failed to do so since he was using the rigged gun that ended his life.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He cares for his wife and daughter, as he’s willing to hunt down anyone he believes was responsible for his wife’s murder, and while he did constantly neglect her over being a woman and was willing to endanger her, it’s shown he did have some care for The Prince, as he spared her life when confronted with her and held her chin as he says he does see her, ultimately earning his respect as he leaves her alone and spared.

Trivia[]

  • The White Death is, alongside his daughter the Prince, one of the two Bullet Train villains to be Near Pure Evil.
  • Interestingly, before portraying the White Death and the Prince respectively, Michael Shannon and Joey King appeared separately as Near Pure Evil villains from DC Comics, those being Zod in Man of Steel and Talia al Ghul in The Dark Knight Rises respectively.
