| ~ Venom to Spider-Man. |
Venom is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Norman Osborn) of the 2017 animated TV series Marvel's Spider-Man. It is a major antagonist in Season 1, a supporting antagonist in Season 2 and the titular main antagonist of season 3, Maximum Venom.
It is a member of the Klyntar race who was created for the purpose of helping its people conquer other worlds, eventually crash-landing onto Earth and becoming an enemy of the crime-fighter Spider-Man.
While possessing Flash Thompson, it was voiced by Benjamin Diskin, who also voiced Stuart Zurgo in Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando and Morley in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. It was subsequently voiced by Ben Pronsky.
Its Evil Ranking[]
What Makes It Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- It invaded and dominated several planets at the behest of the Klyntar.
- Although it considers Spider-Man its favorite host, it primarily bonded to him for his power.
- While it helped Spider-Man fight crime as his black suit, it only did so for the selfish goal of remaining bonded to him.
- It influenced Spider-Man into assaulting Adrian Toomes after he had been legally bailed out of prison, attacking his best friend Harry Osborn, and lashing out at his Aunt May.
- It took over Flash Thompson and used his body to rampage throughout New York and attack innocent people while he slept, traumatizing him.
- After bonding to Eddie Brock, it kidnapped Spider-Man's friends and loved ones to get to him.
- It unmasked Peter in front of his boss J. Jonah Jameson, causing him to lose his job at the Daily Bugle.
- It abandoned Eddie once it evolved to no longer require a host, proving that it was only using him.
- It took Flash and Anna Maria Marconi hostage as it fought Spider-Man in Midtown High, taking sadistic pleasure in tormenting the former.
- Upon learning that the Spider-Man it fought was Otto Octavius and not Peter Parker, it derided him as a fraud and continued threatening its hostages.
- It tried to tempt Peter into rebonding with it once he returned to his body.
- It only bonded to Curt Connors to escape Horizon and cast him aside after he had served his purpose.
- It used the symbiote seed to summon a Klyntar invasion force to Earth, causing widespread chaos and destruction.
- It took over Max's body and used him to build a portal to planet Klyntar.
- It disobeyed its sisters to pursue its vendetta on Spider-Man.
- It fed the seed to the World-Killer to empower it, knowing that it would allow it to destroy the planet.
- Although it rightfully called out Max Modell for having experimented on it, this excuse doesn't hold up because Venom continued to attack innocent people and showed no remorse for its actions.
- It has a clearly defined personality and sadistically revels in its misdeeds despite the potential for symbiotes as a whole to display morality.
- Overall, Venom lacks the redeeming qualities of its comic counterpart.
What Prevents It from Being Pure Evil?[]
- Its race's abandonment at the hands of their creator Knull and betrayal by the aliens they bonded to qualifies as an actual tragedy.
