Who am I? I am the servant of the Dark Lord, the one true Acolyte of the Beyond. I am Vaneé, keeper of the obsidian flame. I am death to all those who profane the name of the Sith.
~ Vaneé

Vaneé is a recurring antagonist in the Star Wars franchise. He is Darth Vader's evil Sith servant on Fortress Vader, Mustafar.

He was portrayed by Martin Gordon.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • Though once an Imperial Inspector, he was a selfish and arrogant jerk who looked down on people. Vaneé was born when a group of lava fumes made the Imperial Inspector inhale, causing the Dark Side to twist his mind and create an alternate personality of himself, Vaneé. This does not make Vaneé a tragic figure.
    • Plus, this is an in-universe legend, so this may not be Vaneé's true origin, and he became evil for another unjustifiable reason.
  • Mocked the Mustafarian warrior Criakan when he threatened to kill him to get back at Darth Vader for killing his kind by pleading for mercy, only to sadistically reveal to Criakan that he wasn't speaking to him but to Vader (who was behind them), allowing Vader to kill Criakan and his warriors.
  • Teased the Mustafarian priestess Sssl for falling into Darth Vader's trick and gleefully told her that she was no match for his master as Vader had Sssl dragged to her death. He also didn't show any sympathy to the Imperial advisor, Rersey, who witnessed everything and was left traumatized by the whole ordeal.
  • He had tortured many people who had visited Fortress Vader in the past to death, recalling later to Hudd how many people were screaming because of his torture.
  • Didn't say anything at all to Director Orson Krennic when he came to Fortress Vader to discuss with his master who would be in charge of the Death Star, not even offering him any comfort after Vader nearly chokes him to death, instead saying that Krennic should feel honored of seeing Vader in his sanctum (though it's not like Krennic deserved any courtesies due to being just as bad or maybe worse than Vaneé).
  • Laughed at Gee-Three as he was lifted and ripped apart with the Force by Darth Vader from behind, after Vaneé incited him to try to shoot him, knowing that Vader wouldn't let him do it.
  • Delayed Commander Lina Graf by telling her the story of the first raid on Fortress Vader to allow Darth Vader to catch her, resulting in Crater's death, much to Vaneé's delight.
  • Tortured countless prisoners before Lieutenant Thom Hudd, remarking that Hudd's stamina would make him resist pain more than his past victims.
  • Put Thom Hudd in a torture web to hurt him, making him miserable by electrocuting him or telling him spooky stories of any unfortunate visitors who have entered into Fortress Vader.
  • Promised Hudd to experience more pain when Hudd tries to escape from him. While he does stop two training droids from attacking Hudd, Vaneé just does so because he considers that torturing Hudd is his job and only his.
  • Tried to electrocute Hudd once more out of boredom for a boring story he had just told, despite Hudd's pleas to not do it.
  • Attacked Lina Graf with an axe when she tried while disguised as the Fourth Sister to have Vaneé release Hudd, even knocking her into the torture web and electrocuting her just like he did with her teammate.
  • His actions left Thom Hudd with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, shivering every once he heard Vaneé's name.
  • Sics Fortress Vader's security on Ren and the Knights of Ren when they come to steal the Screaming Key from the fortress for Crimson Dawn, mocking them how he would be safe due to being one of Vader's valuable "possessions" but that the Knights wouldn't be safe like him.
  • Although Vader locked him up in one of Fortress Vader's pits for angering him and Vaneé spent a long time there with only spark-roaches as food and company, this is more than deserved due to how horrible Vaneé was.
  • Pretended to be a poor and frail man to trick two Mustafarians named Tuttel and Giggek to rescue him from the pit, but pulled Giggek into the pit and tried to kill Tuttel immediately afterwards, leading Giggek to sacrifice himself to save his friend.
  • Decided to perform a Dark Side ritual to bring Darth Vader back to life after the Battle of Endor, even though Vader wasn't really speaking to him but the lava fumes he was exposed to made it look he was, calling upon the Immortal Gods of the Sith to imprint illusion nightmares on many people across the galaxy, plaguing many of the galaxy with horrific nightmares, such as Milo Graf, who dreamed with zombified droids.
    • Plus, the dreams aren't simple dreams; they make the victim feel like they are in reality, and if Vaneé hadn't been stopped and the nightmares continued, they would have gone so bad that they would have mind-raped many people.
    • Also, while Vaneé specifically targeted Lina Graf and her crew with nightmares, intending on drawing them coming back to the castle to draw them there, however, that doesn't stop him from sending nightmares to several random people, such as Jaxon T. Tumperakki.
  • Controlled Crater from afar to kidnap Milo Graf and bring him to his presence, intending to get back at everyone who had ever wronged him to teach them the definition of fear. He even dressed Crater as his master, likely to taunt his incoming visitors.
  • Zapped Lina and Jaxxon when they came to save Milo, capturing them alongside all his visitors.
  • Strapped Lina to a chair and attempted to use her body to host Darth Vader's spirit in order to bring him back to life to terrorize the galaxy again, refusing to hear that Vader ceased to exist when Anakin Skywalker redeemed himself, ultimately leading the Grafs to trick Vaneé into believing that his ritual was a success to strap him to the same chair and leave him behind to well-deservedly face his own monstruous Vader hallucinations, presumably for the rest of his life, while the redeemed spirit of his master guided the Grafs and their friends out of the castle.
  • He is taken completely seriously in-universe, with his only comedic moments being edgy and dark.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • The nightmares he inflicts on the galaxy are Fridge Horror, as it doesn't go in depth of how traumatizing they are, ultimately making him fail the massive Heinous Standards. That said, his nightmare-inducing act is fairly unique, so this is a minor prevention.
  • Despite that Vader faked being zombified by Ssl's zombies and tried to cowardly run away, he is loyal to Vader when he learns of his death. He was disappointed and attempted to bring him back to life, and even though he wasn’t worried for Vader, he most likely knew Vader survived due to his robotic armor.

Trivia[]

  • Vaneé is considerably a controversial Near Pure Evil; for a brief time he was approved to be Pure Evil on Villains Wiki but was later shafted out of it for not succeeding enough in causing more detailed atrocities and was rejected from being a Near Pure Evil, further downgrading him to the lowest evil ranking of morality, being a Villainous Benchmark, though he was eventually approved to be Near Pure Evil, with his preventions holding him not too far off from being Pure Evil.
  • His LEGO version does not qualify as Near Pure Evil due to being too comedic and played for laughs.
