"Humanity Is A Vampire's Greatest Weakness. No Matter How Easy It Is To Turn It Off, It Just Keeps Trying To Fight Its Way Back In. Sometimes I Let It." - Katherine Peirce (Episode 9, Season 3; Homecoming)
"Be smart, Elijah. Klaus is stark raving mad, not to mention completely irredeemable. Leave him to set off on this new adventure. And let's you and I go out on ours. I have lost so much of my life to Klaus. So have you. It's our turn. Elijah, please." -Katherine Peirce 9 (said in The Originals)

What's the work?[]

Katerina Petrova; currently known as Katherine Peirce, born 1475, turned by the Original Hybrid NiKlaus Mikaelson in 1492.Katherine has one daughter, Nadia Petrova, who was taken right after birth by her father. Her daughter Nadia died of a werewolf bite Season 5, Episode 15. She had been sleeping with Stefan and Damon throughout the time they met until she had turned them in 1864. She was introduced Season 1, Episode 22 'Founders Day.' Katherine is manipulative and ruthless, she will do anything to get what she wants or needs. Love interests were Stefan Salvatore, Damon Salvatore, Mason Lockwood, and Elijah Mikaelson. Elena Gilbert, the Main Character, is her doppelgänger.

How heinous is the candidate[]

  • Katherine has killed many people without guilt or second thought, if she needs too, she will kill anyone including her allies.
  • She has had feelings for Stefan, as well as openly admitting she has always loved Stefan over Damon really just not caring how Damon felt after looking for her for over a century.
  • She would give up anyone she knew, most likely even Stefan or Elijah if it meant she could come out surviving.
  • Katherine has always been seen as a heartless character who cares for no one other than herself, until further episodes, though it doesn't say anything for all the things she has done.
  • She is a very manipulative character, aside from the compulsion, she manipulates other characters after a little bit of effort.

What Prevents Her from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • She still somewhat showed feeling for certain people that prevented for from doing certain things, like formerly dating Stefan or formerly dating Elijah.
  • She still shows feeling for both, in around season four it is confirmed Katherine and Elijah are dating.
  • She has worked with others like the MC's to help them or for her own personal reasons, she may be an overly selfish person but she still cares for some, and she has reasons for doing so.
  • She still cares enough for certain people and wouldn't cross the line unless actually necessary, to be pure evil

My Verdict?[]

Katherine isn't a pure evil character, she isn't as evil as Kai, but she isn't as good as Elena or Stefan. Though she became the Ruler of Hell after Cade had been defeated, she still cared for certain people and to me she just felt more as a misunderstood, but in a way still evil character. She had been through a lot in the past leading her to the way she knew, do anything for survival at all costs, she had Klaus chasing her for over a century and even before she had been turned she had been through it. If anyone were to have gone through what she did it might play out the same way, just depending on the character, so I really don't believe her character was pure evil, that honestly just sounds like an exaggeration if you finish the series and actually pay attention to her character. I've talked about this topic to other people, as I mention she is one of my favorites, most responses are that she's an evil character, yes, she is but not pure evil, just barely there. If they had written her character to where she hadn't gone through her past stuff, and she hadn't had real feelings for anyone, I believe is could be plausible. Shown many times, she isn't an entirely evil character, when you really look into her character you notice things she says and how she reacts. So, I genuinely don't believe Katherine is a pure evil character.

Trivia[]

  • Did you know, in the books Katherine was originally German
  • Katherine and Elijah having a relationship only happened in the show, not in the book
