What's the work?[]
BoJack Horseman is an American adult animated tragicomedy sitcom created by Raphael Bob-Waksberg. It stars the voices of Will Arnett, Amy Sedaris, Alison Brie, Paul F. Tompkins, and Aaron Paul. Set primarily in Hollywood (renamed to Hollywoo shortly into season one), the series surrounds an anthropomorphic horse named BoJack Horseman (Arnett), the washed-up star of a 1990s sitcom who plans his return to celebrity relevance with an autobiography to be written by ghostwriter Diane Nguyen (Brie).
Who is Sugarman?[]
Joseph Sugarman was the maternal grandfather of BoJack Horseman, the husband of Honey, and the father of Beatrice and Crackerjack. He was the owner of the Sugarman Sugar Cube Company.
Why Doesn't he Qualify[]
To put it bluntly, he doesn’t count due to being too standard. His only major crime, that being lobotomizing Honey after her outburst, was considered a common procedure in the 40s. Everything else merely amounts to psychological abuse and negligence.
You could also argue that other characters in Bojack Horseman have done worse; such as Butterscotch drugging a kid and Bojack himself who attempted to have sex with his old friend’s teenage daughter Penny, took his old ex co-star on a month long bender and when she overdosed, waited 17 minutes before calling a ambulance and strangled another co-host while he was in a drugged up state.
Final Verdict[]
Cut. While he is a terrible person and a dead ringer for the Hate Sink status, he simply doesn’t do enough to be Near Pure Evil.
