“ | Perhaps one day you will see that this is what nature intended all along.... Mankind is merely a temporary weed in the garden of life. A weed that can be removed. | „ |
~ Undergrowth's most famous quote |
Undergrowth is a major antagonist in Danny Phantom, serving as the main antagonist of the episode "Urban Jungle". He is a floral ghost who seeks to gain revenge on humanity for destroying vegetation in Amity Park.
He was voiced by Mark Hamill, who also voiced Py-Ro in Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex, Abraham Kane in Motorcity, the Party Bus Driver and the Scarecrow in Regular Show and Megatronus Prime in Transformers: Prime Wars Trilogy.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- Attempted to perpetrate the extinction of humanity.
- This gives Undergrowth to have one of the highest attempted kill counts in Danny Phantom, with the only two potentially rivaling him in scope are Pariah Dark and Dark Danny.
- Enslaved almost everyone in Amity Park, including children and used them to destroy the infrastructure of Amity Park so he could re-wild the city.
- He also corrupted Sam, and used her to try and defeat/kill Danny by feeding him to plants before he escaped.
- When Danny returned, Undergrowth attempted to kill him again before getting defeated.
- His justification, to get revenge on humans due to mistreating the environment, is ultimately invalidated as he planned to murder those who may have opposed humanity's environmental destruction, as well as those who are unable to be guilty of any wrongdoing, such as children.
- While he does help Danny save the Earth in the series finale "Phantom Planet", it was most likely out of pragmatic reasons as he knew that if the Earth gets destroyed, so will the Ghost World. Even Skulker admits that everyone was doing it to save their own skin.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He truly cares for vegetation, as he can be seen stroking some of his vegetation, as well as affectionately calling them his "children".
- He is somewhat an extremist as he wants to help plants grow and thrive, even if it means destroying human civilization to do so.
- He has a few comedic moments. An example of this is his defeat as he is ran over by Tucker's lawnmower. However, due to the fact his villainy is still taken seriously, this is a minor prevention.
