~ Turles berating Goku for abandoning his Saiyan heritage. |
Turles, also spelled as Tullece, is the main antagonist of the 1990 Dragon Ball Z film Dragon Ball Z: The Tree of Might. He is a Saiyan warrior who bears a striking resemblance to Goku, but is his polar opposite and represents what Goku would have become if he hadn't hit his head as a baby and thus kept his Saiyan characteristics forever.
He was voiced Masako Nozawa (who also voiced Goku himself) in Japanese and Ward Perry and later Chris Patton in English.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- Before the events of the film, he had already used the Tree of Might to contaminate several planets, which resulted in the death of millions, if not billions, of beings in order to become the most powerful being in the universe.
- After checking the Earth's environment, he plans to use the Tree of Might to pollute it and use it as a container. The pollution was such that the Earth almost became a complete wasteland.
- He tried to corrupt a 5 year old Gohan to join him in his conquest of planets and embrace his Saiyan side. He also turned him into a Great Ape so that he began to destroy everything and watched with satisfaction as Great Ape Gohan attacked his father Goku.
- He almost killed Gohan's dragon, Icarus, when he was interfering with Gohan's destruction.
- After Gohan tries to attack him for nearly killing his friend, Turles tries to kill him after realizing that he will not join him.
- He almost manages to kill Piccolo when he tries to protect Gohan, using an underhanded move.
- He tries to make Goku join him in his conquest of planets, and when he refuses, he tries to kill him.
- He brutally beats Piccolo, Krillin, Yamcha, Tien Shinhan and Chiaotzu when they try to stop him.
- He deflects Goku's Spirit Bomb, which contained all the remaining energy on the planet, almost succeeding in his plans.
- He tries one last time to kill Goku after he survives his attack.
- While doesn’t abuse or berate his minions like many other Dragon Ball villains, this is mainly out of pragmatism. Not to mention that he shows no concern whatsoever when Goku kills all of them.
- Despite the series' high heinous standard, Turles still stands out for being less powerful than most of the series' villains and their high body count, as well as the movie being non-canon, so he doesn't have to meet the standards.
- Overall, Turles has no redeeming qualities.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- Even though his contamination and destruction of planets would make him heinous enough to be Pure Evil, ultimately, such actions are completely offscreen.
