Tsavong Lah is a major antagonist in the Star Wars franchise, serving as the secondary antagonist of the New Jedi Order series as the main antagonist of the first 14 books and a posthumous antagonist for the last 5 and the rest of the franchise. He is the fanatical Warmaster (leader) of the Yuuzhan Vong military who leads their bloody invasion of the galaxy and becomes obsessed with wiping out the Jedi Order and Leia’s children. He is the archenemy of Leia’s twin children Jacen and Jaina Solo.
His Evil Ranking[]
In General[]
- Unlike the other Yuuzhan Vong, Lah’s devotion to the gods is purely out of fanaticism and has a notorious reputation amongst the Vong for being a fanatic. He is also a massive hypocrite, using non-organic technology which is akin to blasphemy in the Yuuzhan Vong religion even after telling Leia that non-organic tech is an abomination. He is even frequently called out by many Yuuzhan Vong priests for only being devoted to the Yuuzhan Vong god of war and neglecting the other two gods, showing he is only devoted to gods that represent his bloodthirstiness and sadism, not for any genuine care for them. He also sided with Shimrra during Shimrra’s coup against the previous Supreme Overlord Quorreal because Lah wanted to invade the galaxy and Shimrra represents war and the aggressive side of the Vong as opposed to Quorreal’s more cautious approach. His hypocrisy is perhaps best demonstrated when he betrays the most pious Yuuzhan Vong and his predecessor Shedao Shai and destroys Ithor, breaching the sacred honorable nature/oaths Yuuzhan Vong warriors are supposed to have as their culture dictates so Lah could further his own ambitions and interests. In short, Lah is a self-serving hypocritical fanatic who is only “devoted” to the gods who represent his bloodthirsty ambitions and is willing to commit blasphemy anyway if it serves him.

- Destroyed the planet Kalabra, killing it’s five billion inhabitants.
- Proceeded to destroy all life in the star system Kalabra was a part of.

- Nearly killed Leia had Jacen not intervened.
- Destroyed 19 out of the 20 floating cities of Duro (the planet itself was uninhabitable), nearly exterminating the Duro species.
- Proclaimed that he would leave the rest of the galaxy in peace (which was a lie) if they turned on and gave up the New Jedi Order, specifying that he wanted all the Jedi including children so he could kill them all, beginning another Jedi purge as much of the galaxy turned on the Jedi to be captured and executed.
- He never intended to actually leave the rest of the galaxy in peace, the “truce” was just an opportunity to replenish his losses and strengthen his fleet.
- He had no respect for those who captured the Jedi and would kill them once they handed over the Jedi prisoners.
- Tortured young Jedi Swilja Fenn to death.
- Captured and destroyed the Jedi headquarters/Praxeum on Yavin 4, keep in mind the Praxeum was dedicated specifically to teaching children and led to the death of legendary Jedi master Ikrit.

- He is responsible for the death of Leia’s youngest son and Jedi paragon Anakin Solo who was killed by the jedi-hunting voxyn queen Lah created.
- Destroyed the secret Jedi base known as the Eclipse Station.
- Used a hostage ship screen of 3 million refugees to destroy Coruscant’s shields and begin the invasion of the capital.
- Launched the successful and bloody invasion Coruscant, killing 100 billion people including New Republic Chief of State Borsk Feyla and causing the collapse of the New Republic.
- Tried to capture and kill Luke Skywalker, his wife Mara, and their newborn son Ben to kill them all.
- Sent a commander and 25,000 Yuuzhan Vong to accept Borsk Feyla’s surrender even though Lah knew it was a trap resulting in Feyla killing all those Yuuzhan Vong warriors.
- Ordered the torturing of a captive Jacen Solo to brainwash him so he could pit him against his sister.
- Led the Battle of Ebaq 9 to destroy the New Republic and Jedi once and for all.
- Although he “accepted” death, it wasn’t out of remorse for his crimes as he tried to take out Jaina and Jacen along with the rest of his men out with him out of spite.
- Injured and immobilized Jaina’s friends before trying to kill Jaina one last time before his death.
- After his death, he would remain the most memorable and hated Yuuzhan Vong figure in the galaxy and was held in contempt by his own species for his obsession with the Jedi, lack of care for his own people through his high casualty rate, and overall deluded fanaticism.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He genuinely cared about his father despite their disagreements and was devastated by his death. In fact, he actually saved his father from being killed for treason by Supreme Overlord Shimrra.
- He had a genuine friendship with his best friend Harrar and trusted his advice above anyone else.
- He has some tiny standards as he was shocked to learn of Han and Leia’s marital issues as he believes family solidarity should be unbreakable.
