His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- He broke Glossaryck's arm because he made a leaf hat. While Glossaryck may be a jerk, he didn't deserve that, plus Toffee's reasoning for doing it is absolutely invalid.
- He killed Queen Moon's mother, Comet Butterfly, while she was in the middle of signing a peace treaty between Monsters and Mewmans for a very petty reason.
- He has killed several other members of Mewni royalty and wore their skulls.
- He manipulated several events to get Buff Frog thrown out of Ludo's castle, all because he was suspicious of Toffee's true plans.
- He convinced the other monsters that he was a much better leader than Ludo, leading to Ludo getting thrown out of his own castle.
- He and his monsters kidnapped Marco and threatened to kill him if Star didn't destroy her wand.
- While he might seem to have a "Pet the Dog" moment where he gives him a sandwich and encourages him politely to eat, him attempting to kill the latter by crushing him subverts this.
- He attempted to have one of his monsters kill Ludo when he tried to steal the wand.
- He was well aware that the wand would explode after Star used the Whispering Spell, and did not care for the safety of the monsters in the castle.
- After his spirit entered one half of the split wand, he manipulated Ludo into becoming a more ruthless and competent villain.
- He manipulated Ludo into opening Queen Eclipsa's chapter, allowing him to take over his body against his will.
- While in Ludo's body, he drained the Magic High Commission and forced Chancellor Lekmet to sacrifice himself.
- He had Ludo take over the kingdom of Mewni.
- When Star entered the wand, he agreed to give her back if Moon returned his finger to him, only to leave her to die once he got what he wanted.
- He crushed the half of the wand that Star was still trapped in after regaining his physical body.
- While he got a few comedic moments such as his complaint to the fly about putting pillows on his chair or even his famous “SURPRISE!”, they don’t detract from his heinous crimes as he ended up becoming darker each episode.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He is not as heinous as Meteora despite having similar resources, since she not only consumed many souls, but she also helped Star, Moon, and Eclipsa destroy magic, which is the same thing he tried to do plus the consumption of souls.
- He had a real motive to destroy all magic and put the monsters in a position of power considering how they were treated by the Mewmans. But it's a minor prevention, because he still manipulates other monsters and can be brutal towards them to achieve his goals.
- The narrative later agrees with this goal, with Star even acknowledging that Toffee was right all along. However, Star does not say that Toffee's crimes were justified.
Trivia[]
- Toffee is the only Star vs. the Forces of Evil villain to be Near Pure Evil.
