Thunder Serpent Narwa is the main antagonist of Monster Hunter Rise.
She is an Elder Dragon that uses her elemental control of thunder to cause deadly vortex storms that instigates rampages across the land, so as to create the appropriate territory for her and her mate Wind Serpent Ibushi to mate in. Unlike most other Elder Dragons, who are neutral forces of nature, Narwa seems to be intentional in her sadism and revels in the destruction she brings.

What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- For hundreds of years, she instigated the 'Rampage' phenomena where hordes of monsters would attack their surrounding environment and human settlements in a 'frenzied rage' to cause as much destruction and wipe out as much life as possible.
- It's implied that she and Wind Serpent Ibushi were the gods that destroyed the Shrine Ruins, forcing the villagers to evacuate while many died in the process.
- The Rampage phenomena supposedly made Kamura Village suffer 'devastating casualties' which heavily implies that a lot of people died in the previous Rampage.
- She seeks Ibushi so she can produce their offspring with the heavy implication that she wants her offspring to simply continue her cycle of destroying everything which subverts any potential mitigating 'care' she may have had for her offspring.
- She mind-rapes/brainwashes Minoto through 'resonance and makes her vocalize her thoughts, confirming that she has clear moral agency and genuinely enjoys all the destruction she's causing.
- She wipes out the hunters sent by the Guild to dispatch of her.
- According to her description, Narwa absorbing Ibushi's life energy wasn't motivated by a desire to protect her children but cause even more destruction and kill the hunter.
- While it can be argued that her destructive habits are just a part of her species' mating ritual, the corpse of another Narwa in the Lava Caverns and the area's notes suggest the mating habits of the Sky Serpents aren't usually that destructive, only causing small scale monster stampedes. Thus, as the Rampage seems to force monsters from many areas near Kamura to evacuate, this displays Narwa and Ibushi are only destructive thanks to their sadism or vanity.
What Prevents Her from Being Pure Evil?[]
- She suffers from Fridge Horror with not much clarification or context on the 'devastating casualties' that occurred in Kamura Village when they were previously attacked by the Rampage phenomena.

- If an actual body-count or context was given to the mass deaths caused by the Rampage; The English version of Thunder Serpent Narwa would have likely qualified for Pure Evil.
- Thunder Serpent Narwa is currently the only 'Monster Hunter' Near Pure Evil.
- While the English version of Thunder Serpent Narwa is considered Near Pure Evil, her Japanese version is not as the latter is genuinely affable, only causing the destruction she brings as she wants the most conducive environment for her children to grow up in.
