I can see it now, no substance to protect himself. His school is cornered with no foreseeable way to prevent me from snatching them up. The giggles will be gone, as fear will overcome his senses. Perhaps he’ll run in a blind panic and trip for my amusement. I do enjoy a show during dinner.
~ The Overlord in the Prologue.

The Jellien Overlord (also simply known as the Overlord) is the main antagonist of the SpongeBob SquarePants horror fangame Around the Clock at Bikini Bottom. It's the leader and creator of all the Jelliens, who wishes to get revenge on SpongeBob after its first defeat.

Its Evil Ranking[]

What Makes It Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • Although in the original show the Overlord showed little to no personality apart from its sadism (which is mostly shown when it mockingly laughs at SpongeBob when the mayo freezes before touching it), here its personality is made completely clear. The Prologue even shows its inner thoughts, further revealing that the Overlord has a vengeful and sadistic personality and wishes to get revenge on SpongeBob.
    • These traits of its personality are also shown in the game itself, showing that the Overlord has a drawing of SpongeBob in the sewers. It also further clarifies its sadism by sending deadly Jelliens to kill SpongeBob and the gang, as well as later in the game trying to kill them itself.
  • During its time in the sewers to reform itself, it killed 4 people.
  • In addition to keeping all of its crimes from the original episode, they are further emphasized and made clear to have had a severe traumatic impact on the heroes.
  • After having fully reformed and created a new army of Jelliens, the Overlord starts a new and far more brutal invasion on Bikini Bottom, kidnapping almost all of its inhabitants and cloning them.
  • Towards the end of the game, it attacks the Krusty Krab (which served as the main hub for the protagonists) to attempt to kill them. As it is forced to flee it drops the building, which results in its destruction. This even further provokes Mr. Krabs, who - after deciding it was the final straw - steals a bus to tail the Overlord back to its lair in Rock Bottom.
  • It's revealed that it killed Pearl, which leaves an even bigger emotional impact on Mr. Krabs, ultimately driving the crustacean to defeat it through means of suicide.
  • At the end of the game, it eats Mr. Krabs as the latter covers himself in mayo and willingly sacrifices his own life, which leaves a huge impact on the other protagonists due to the loss of both their boss and close friend.
  • Although it shows anger when its Jellien soldiers are destroyed, it clearly isn't very concerned about the other Jelliens' safety since during its battle it endangers numerous Pinkies by throwing them at SpongeBob.
  • It is ultimately responsible for everything happening in the game, either directly or indirectly.

What Prevents It from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • Although the Overlord is a Game Changer and is much worse compared to its original counterpart, it has some comedic qualities that detract from its villainy: its weakness to mayo as well as its boss fight, which involves using a guitar to attack it with music.
  • It relies on some Fridge Horror for sufficient heinousness since the Overlord has only five confirmed victims, with other possible victims and its intention to commit genocide being only implied at best. Apart from that, it only immediately tries to kill the heroes and tyrannize the town. However, its crimes are given enough context to piece together that as a plausible conclusion, making it a minor prevention.
