The Operator is the main antagonist of the Marble Hornets franchise, serving as the overarching antagonist of the web series (specifically the main antagonist of of Season 1 and the overarching antagonist of Seasons 2 and 3) and the main antagonist of the comic book series. They are a mysterious parasitic entity that stalks Jay and the other members of the Marble Hornets crew, slowly driving them insane, with Alex Kralie being affected by The Operator's abilities.
He was portrayed by an uncredited actor, as the creators felt that revealing who played him would "ruin the fun".
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- When Tim was a child, he mentally tortured him, which led him being sent to a mental hospital.
- He stalked Alex during his time in Marble Hornets, driving him more and more insane.
- Started to mentally torture the cast of Marble Hornets, including Jay, Brian, Tim, Jessica and Alex and infected the first three of them with The Operator Sickness.
- He drove Alex crazy enough to murder people, including Sarah and Amy, his own girlfriend.
- He seemed to have directly killed Seth himself when he wandered off into The Tower.
- When Jay was going through Alex and the Operator's history, he further taunted Jay, infamously trapping him in a house all day and night. This used Jay to stay up all nights and even sleepwalk, waking up in random places such as his car.
- He made Jessica and Jay amnesiac and unable to remember anything in Season 2,
- He caused Tim and Brian, who were tortured and inflicted with operator sickness, to become the vigilantes Masky and Hoody.
- He tortured and taunted Tim in the infamous penultimate episode via teleporting him around all the different locations, and dragging him around just to taunt him
- Even when Tim leaves his town, it is implied he still has his effects in him and will continue to have it to this day.
- He went on to stalk Jessica, Adam and Taylor after Tim leaves town.
- As revealed in the Marble Hornet Comics, he is responsible for Skullface, who is the assimilations of the people he causes the deaths of, including Brain, Jay, The White Shirted man, Alex, Sarah, Seth, Amy and presumably multiple other people.
- It is also revealed that he sends all of the victims into a death like purgatorial loop where they canāt ever rest, and it is shown to be painful to some people, such as Alex, who is trapped voiceless and in suffering.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He suffers from insufficient characterisation as he does not showcase a lot of personality, nor does he have any lines of dialogue or any kind of communication with any of the characters. He does show ocasional signs of sadism, but those signs of sadism are too minor and the Operator's nature and presentation are too vague for them to give him sufficient characterization.
Trivia[]
- He is the only Marble Hornets Villain to be Near Pure Evil.
