If you give me your name, I'll make you strong.
~ The Nameless Monster

The Nameless Monster is the titular villain protagonist of the fairy tale Obluda (The Monster Who Didn't Have A Name in english), a tale within the anime/manga series Monster. He is created by Franz Bonaparta and is a monster that was split in half from another one that went to a village in the east in search for a name, devouring and killing many people along its way to do so.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • After entering a blacksmith named Otto whom he promised to make stronger if he gives his name to him and makes him the strongest, he kills him by eating Otto from the inside out.
  • He enters Hans the shoemaker and kills him too by eating him from the inside out.
  • He then enters Thomas the Hunter and kills him by eating him from the inside out as well.
  • Upon entering a castle, after entering its prince Johan on account of curing his illness and making him strong which he does, he would kill the king and dozens of his servants by devouring them alive.
  • After going on a journey through Johan's body and encountering the monster who traveled west who revealed that he didn't need a name to be happy, he kills him by devouring him.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • The narrative portrays him as an odd creature in desperate search of a name, with their MO of going around eating and killing people to achieve a name being too enigmatic to be truly understandable, and the story also implies that the Nameless Monster has trouble not eating and killing people at a few points, giving him moral agency issues.

Trivia[]

  • He is the only Monster Near Pure Evil to not exist in the actual universe of the series.
