Near Pure Evil Wiki

The Inspector is a minor antagonist in The Owl House, serving as the main antagonist of the episode "The First Day." She is a Greater Basilisk who disguised herself as an inspector so she could infiltrate schools and consume the magic of their occupants.

She was voiced by April Stewart.

Her Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • She snuck into Glandus High and proceeded to drain the magic of all the students and teachers, severely weakening them and rendering them unconscious, with it also implied that she did this to at least one other school.
    • The magic witches naturally possess is vital for them, so draining it from them is fatal. Since the Inspector consumed the magic of the schools' residents, she came close to killing all of them.
  • She started draining the magic of the student and teachers of Hexside, and when Luz confronted her, the Inspector immediately attempted to eat her.
  • It's shown that Basilisks don't need to consume magic to survive, meaning the Inspector was likely attacking the schools out of malice.
  • Although the heinous standard is high, she manages to stand out due to her lower resources and her unique crime of targeting and draining schools.

What Prevents Her from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • The Emperor’s Coven tortured and experimented on all Basilisks, making the narrative treat them as sympathetic characters, even though the Inspector didn’t have any explicitly tragic scenes. This is confirmed to affect her through the implication that she is one of the Basilisks who escaped and started attacking schools as a form of retribution for her mistreatment.
