The Cat, also known as the CAT, is the secondary antagonist of the Five Nights at Candy's series, serving as the overarching antagonist of Five Nights at Candy's, the secondary antagonist of Five Nights at Candy's 2, and a major antagonist in Five Nights at Candy's 3.
The original incarnation of the titular character, he is a ruined cat animatronic possessed by his actor from the Rat & Cat Theater. After being killed by his co-worker in cold blood, he grew cruel and returned from the dead to haunt Candy's Burgers & Fries restaurant and get revenge on Mary Schmidt.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- After his death, he psychologically tormented Mary Schmidt in the Dreamscape as Shadow Cat.
- As Shadow Candy, he led Old Candy into a maintenance room to get tazed by a guard, possibly in an attempt to get said guard killed.
- He haunted Candy's Burgers & Fries for decades, to the point that a child saw and drew Shadow Candy in 1976.
- It's implied that he might've attacked Blank for looking at the said drawing of him.
- He led Old Candy to an adult in Candy's Burgers & Fries, leading to an altercation where the animatronic apparently attacked and possibly killed him, resulting in Old Candy getting retired.
- While it could arguably be seen as a "Pet the Dog" moment since he led Old Candy to the crying child in the office earlier so he could cheer them up and later led him to the aforementioned adult (who is implied to be the child's abusive parent) so that he can protect them, it's also been proven that he has no second thoughts about murdering children, so it was equally likely to be an attempt to cause chaos, not to mention that Old Candy's altercation with the parent turned out to be rather violent, possibly lethal, and lead to him getting retired.
- He killed two twin children who entered the Rowboatics Corp factory by putting them on a conveyor belt to be brutally mutilated by the factory's machinery and converted into the endoskeletons for the newer Candy and the newcomer Cindy, all with a sadistic smile, leading to the twins suffering a fate worse than death as they are forced to possess the animatronics.
- While it's implied that the Rat ordered him to kill the children, as his shadow form was present at the area where Cat brings them too, this isn't confirmed, and even if it was, the Cat was still the one to do the dirty work, making them both equally responsible.
- It's also confirmed that Mary Schmidt used to work at the factory and fell asleep on the job on the night of the twins' deaths. This makes the Cat's actions even worse, as he might've killed the twins just to spite her.
- He tried to kill Mary near the end of her tenure as the night guard at Candy's Burgers & Fries.
- In 2007, he tried to kill Mary's daughter Marylin in the factory with the Rat's help.
- Notably, if Marylin died to the other animatronics in the factory, she was simply reported to have disappeared. However, if she died to the Cat or the Rat, her brutalized corpse was left to be found by the authorities, with the damage being compared to a bear attack.
- Although he started as a well-intentioned extremist trying to bring a murderer to justice, he subverted this after his death and became a homicidal robot.
- Despite being the secondary antagonist, he ultimately proved himself to be more heinous and worse than the Rat by killing children, something his partner didn't succeed in doing. Furthermore, he still passed the heinous standards compared to Simon Fitzgerald due to his murders both being on-screen and uniquely brutal and gruesome, not to mention having lower resources.
- He lost any redeeming qualities he once had after becoming an animatronic.
- While he lacked any voice lines, the fact he didn't just kill 2 kids but also turned them into haunted animatronics and tormenting Mary in her dreams in many days showed he had a clear sadistic personality.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He had a tragic death since he was killed by his co-worker when trying to call the police and an ambulance for Rat after he was accidentally killed.
Trivia[]
- Only the Cat from the Five Nights at Candy's trilogy within the Fazbear Fanverse (which includes Five Nights at Candy's Remastered) qualified as Near Pure Evil, while Shadow Candy from the original Five Nights at Candy's fangame doesn't due to being an easter egg character with absolutely no personality.
- The Cat is one of the three Fazbear Fanverse villains to be Near Pure Evil, alongside Dead King Freddy and Flumpty Bumpty.
- He is also the only Five Nights at Candy's villain to be Near Pure Evil.
- While he is Near Pure Evil now, Five Nights at Candy's 4 may affect his Near Pure Evil status.
