~ Parker Crane, as Josh, says this to Renai moments before trying to strangle her. |
Parker Crane, also known as Marilyn Crane or The Bride in Black, is the secondary antagonist of the Insidious franchise. He is the ghost of a serial killer who seeks to possess Josh Lambert's body.
In the first film, he was portrayed by Philip Friedman. In the second film, he was portrayed by Tom Fitzpatrick while his younger self was portrayed by Tyler Griffin.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- Parker definitely has a tragic backstory, but this doesn't excuse the horrible things he did as a adult serial killer.
- Presumably killed his mother, Michelle Crane.
- Has kidnapped women and has them strapped to a chair, having them mentally scarred and kicking and screaming before he proceeds to kill them. He has done this to over 15 women.
- Upon meeting Josh for the first time, he attacked young Josh out of envy for living a normal childhood he never had.
- As a ghost, he would stalk and haunt young Josh Lambert for years, intending on possessing him. This gave Josh nightmares, greatly scared him, and required him to undergo hypnosis to forget about his trauma.
- Attacked Elise Rainer in the Further, intending on choking her to death, but failed.
- Haunted Elise Rainer for 20 years, scaring her so badly that she retired and cut herself off from astral projecting into the Further.
- Possessed adult Josh Lambert.
- While possessing Josh, Parker choked Elise Rainer to death.
- Attacked Carl with a knife, intending on killing him but failed.
- Had drugged Tucker, knocking him out cold.
- While he presumably wanted to live a normal life when having Josh's body, this all subverted when he eventually listened to his mother's orders on killing the Lambert family.
- Intends on killing the whole Lambert family, including all of the children, but failed.
- Tried to hit ten year old Dalton Lambert to death with a hammer, but failed.
- After being pulled back from Dalton, Parker tries to strangle him to death right before he was banished.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- Parker is quite mentally ill, as he was given a complex personality after his abusive childhood and has the voice of his mother's ghost in his head telling him what he must do; although it must be said that his mother is literally telling him what to do, owing to the existence of the Further. This is shown when it was mentioned that Parker castrated himself to please his mother.
- However, this is a minor prevention, as Parker clearly enjoys inflicting pain on people, as he says to the Lambert family that he misses inflicting pain on others.
- Parker is slightly sympathetic. Parker was severely abused by his mother Michelle Crane when he was a child, such as that eventually, when he was an adult, he went insane and became a serial killer. There is even the implication that he murdered his mother, although this is absolutely deserved. When he was in the hospital, Parker attacked young Josh Lambert because he envied his youth, as all Parker wanted was a normal life and childhood, but never had it. This makes Parker slightly sympathetic, as the movie climaxes with him turning against his mother and finding peace; even if he isn't redeemed or excused of his horrific crimes.
