The Annihilator was born on Earth, and started exhibiting his mutant powers as a child. Everyone teased and tormented him for being a freak, so he withdrew from society. But he didn't become truly powerful until he was discovered and trained by the legendary Hapax the Elder, a human with a similar mutation, who wanted to groom him into being a great superhero, but The Annihilator decided to use his powers for evil, to make everyone suffer the way he suffered. Hapax was so upset about being betrayed that he went into self-imposed exile on Caldera.
~ Kaz and Oliver reading about The Annihilator's origin.

Neil Gunzenhauser, better known as The Annihilator, is the main antagonist of the Disney XD series Mighty Med and is a posthumous antagonist in its sequel show Lab Rats: Elite Force.

He is the supervillain who caused Skylar Storm to lose her powers. However, later upon their return, The Annihilator brainwashed Skylar, turning her evil. He is Skylar Storm longtime arch-nemesis and Hapax the Elder's former pupil-turned-nemesis.

His ultimate goal is to create an army to take over the world by turning all superheroes, including Skylar, into his evil servants. He used a device containing a serum that can contaminate superpowers and link them to his control. The first of his victims was Skylar Storm herself.

He was voiced by David Sobolov and portrayed by Morgan Benoit, who also portrayed Nightstrike, another villain from Mighty Med.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • While he has a tragic backstory, being picked on the other kids, his actions are far past it as Hapax gave him the opportunity to be a hero and be better than his tormentors, but he chose to be a villain and become like his tormentors to make people suffer they way he suffered.
  • He spent the last 30 years battling various superheroes and one he won he stole their equipment and superpowers as trophies. A total of 22 superpowers were on his self and only 8 of them were return, implying that the other 14 superheroes were killed. While this is implied it is stated that the heroes die without their powers as superhero dies if they don’t get their powers back in time.
    • Several of these battles took place on other planets where he attempt to destroy them.
  • In one of his battles with Skylar Storm, he not only took her powers, but her invisible motorcycle (or jet) and left her standing in her underwear. This later caused her to meet Kaz and Oliver where their adventures begin.
  • He turned an alien superhero named Experion evil. He also made Experion hunt Skylar in case she was going to get revenge on him.
  • When Kaz and Oliver broke into his lair to steal Skylar’s powers, he attempted to kill both of them but they were able to get out.
  • He tracked his stole “trophy” to Mighty Med where he attempted to kill Skylar and almost killed Oliver with his cannon.
  • When Skylar got her powers back, he revealed he corrupted them during their fight in the hospital and made her take out a guard, knock out Horace, and almost kill Kaz and Oliver if Horace didn’t save them.
  • When Kaz accidentally told him of the Quantum Chip, he threatens to torture Alan (Horace’s nephew) in front of him. When he couldn’t find Alan, he then decided to torture Horace until the latter zapped himself with a Linguistic Scrambler device that made him speak backwards.
  • Once the effects wore off, he attempted to torture Horace again until he ate a pill that made his mouth disappear.
  • When he found out Kaz and Oliver ate the Quantum Chip, he suggested that Evil Skylar use her exploding power to get the chip out. This would have killed the boys if Skylar thought otherwise.
  • When his plan to take over Mighty Med failed (but Skylar was able to reverse time), he and Skylar formed a new plan/plot to secretly destroy the hospital. This involved Skylar to secretly turn all the heroes into his servants while he was supposedly imprisoned.
  • When Kaz and Oliver soon began to investigate to find out who the mole was, The Annihilator is indirectly responsible for framing Oliver and turning Agent Baylock into stone, which Kaz and Oliver stated the next day that he still hasn't recovered.
  • Later when The Annihilator realizes that Kaz and Oliver were interfering with his plans too much, he gave Skylar a mission to kill Oliver (mostly because he knew she had feelings for him). When Skylar begins to have second thoughts about the mission, The Annihilator threatens to kill her and Oliver if she doesn't get the job done. When Skylar returns and say she killed Oliver, The Annihilator was please by the results.
  • After Oliver survived the assassination, The Annihilator went to find his old mentor Hapax the Elder and kill him as he is the last thing from keeping him from destroying the earth.
  • When he thought Caduceo was back from hiding, he sent Blue Tornado and Tecton to find him. While Tecton looked for a object that can drain Caduceo of his powers, he almost killed Gus with a couch.
  • Although he fought Hapax mutant-to-mutant he was clearly expecting Hapax to loose knowing how his mutation causes him to age backwards.
  • After Skylar betrayed him, The Annihilator killed her by blasting her with Black Widower's Poison, both out of spite and revenge on Kaz and Oliver.
  • While not as heinous as Victor Krane, The Annihilator had a great impact on the show as his legacy would still haunt the staff and heroes at Mighty Med after his death. Skylar had almost died when he shot her with Black Widower's poison before Neil had met his demise (Horace also revealed himself to be Caduceo the legendary healer of superheroes). It also took Skylar some time to be accepted again by the hospital staff. This also made Skylar feel that she needed to protect everyone because she hurt a lot of people she cared about. She also felt that her goal of regaining her powers and becoming a superhero again was unattainable until Chase Davenport found a way to restore her powers. When Oliver mentions why Skylar doesn't have powers in the first place is the cause The Annihilator drained it from her and Chase thought the nature of his power is ridiculous (due to the fact Chase finds superpowers ridiculous compare to Bionics).
  • Despite his death and defeat, The Annihilator's influence on Skyler never ended. In the Lab Rats: Elite Force episode "Power Play", Oliver mentions they Skylar lost her powers to the Annihilator's to Chase Davenport, who didn't want Skylar to feel like she was expendable to the team. He found a way to restore her powers, which were always there but have remained dormant within her DNA. However, Skylar's powers continue to glitch. Also, after his showdown with Kaz and Oliver, Skylar's home planet Caldera fell to a state of civil war, with Scarlett (one of Skylar's best friends) being one of the leaders of the Opposition who is bent on taking over the universe. This civil war is what Skylar mentions is destroying her home.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • As the sequel series Elite Force reveals that The Mighty Med and Lab Rats are in the same universe, he fails the in-story heinous standard to Victor Krane, who attempted to brainwash everyone in the world, and Dr. Gao, who alongside Krane tried to kill everyone on Earth with a nuclear missile. The Annihilator had a traumatic impact on Skylar, where her life on her old home and friends at Mighty Med are all killed or are in hiding. Although given how it stated that The Annihilator wanted to destroy the world and tried to do the same to other planets in the past, this is a minor prevention. Plus like Gao, he failed into destroying Earth on a similar scale with his army of evil superheroes.

Trivia[]

  • He is the only villain from Mighty Med to be Near Pure Evil.
