The Tar Monster is one of the three secondary antagonists (alongside The Black Knight Ghost and Pterodactyl Ghost) of Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.
He is one of the monsters brought to life by the Evil Masked Figure to get revenge on Mystery Inc.
He was voiced by Michael Sorich.

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- Upon being accidentally brought to life by Shaggy and Scooby, he, alongside the Zombie, Captain Cutler and the Miner '49er, tries to attack them, and when Fred, Daphne and Velma stumble on them, they attack them too.
- He traps a crowd of Coolsville Citizens in his tar, and even a man in a car is shown having the tar cover up his mouth.
- When the gang returns to the lab, he traps them in his tar and slowly smothers them to near death. He also tries to do the same to Scooby.
- He, alongside the rest of the monsters, were going to be used to destroy Coolsville. Considering he was one of the most powerful monsters in the army, he could've done the most damage as he can trap people in his tar and smother them to death.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He fails the Heinous Standards to the Evil Masked Figure, as he attempts to smother the gang under his orders, although he does it rather sadistically, allowing him to stand out enough. Not to mention the Gang were the only people who could have stopped the Evil Masked Figure and his monsters from their plan.
- He has a comedic moment where the Pterodactyl Ghost flies straight into and gets stuck in him, while the Tar Monster gives the camera an unamused look.
- He, alongside all the other monsters, has moral agency issues due to being brought to life to attack Mystery Inc and destroy Coolsville.
