~ Talia while stabbing Batman. |
Talia al Ghul, also known by her fake identity as Miranda Tate, is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Bane) of The Dark Knight Rises, the third and final installment of Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy.
She is the vengeful daughter of Ra's al Ghul, who seeks revenge on Bruce Wayne for causing the death of her father. To avenge her father's death and fulfill his legacy, Talia decides to start by ridding the world of Gotham City.
She was portrayed by Marion Cotillard. As a child, she was portrayed by Joey King, who also played the Prince in Bullet Train.
Her Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- She tricked Bruce Wayne into trusting her to look after the reactor and helped Bane activate it while under the guise as a hostage.
- She sold out the special forces by revealing their location, leading to many deaths being caused at the hands of Bane's men, which would be shared with her.
- While Batman was interrogating Bane, Talia came up from behind and stabbed him in the ribs with a knife and revealed that she was the child of Ra's al Ghul and was the one who held possession of the trigger to the bomb of Gotham.
- She tried to cause the bomb to go off early by pressing the trigger, nearly killing 12,000,000 people while sadistically taunting Bruce.
- She decided to let Batman live for the sadistic sake of witnessing the people he protected for so long die before having Bane finish him off.
- On her way out of the building, she had her men kill multiple people by shooting them to death.
- She overrode the reactor, not only sabotaging any ways to deactivate the bomb, but also nearly getting Lucius Fox killed as this caused an emergency flood to activate in the aftermath.
- She spent her last moments taunting Commissioner Gordon, Batman, and Catwoman about how they are now unable to stop the bomb from exploding and that her father's work is finished.
- While she seemed, alongside Bane and the rest of the League of Shadows, to genuinely want to fulfill Ra's al Ghul's destiny by destroying the world's worst cities in order to save the rest of it, this is more of a delusion than being outright extremists, since Talia's plan involves sadistically torturing Bruce while giving Gotham false hope.
- Despite seeming equally terrified at Bane's actions as many other Gotham citizens, it was all an act to maintain her true nature as Bane's accomplice in the attacks on Gotham.
What Prevents Her from Being Pure Evil?[]
- She has a genuine tragedy in that she lost her mother at the hands of the prisoners in the Pit and her father to Batman.
- She cared for her parents as despite being unable to forgive her father for excommunicating Bane for days, she would eventually forgive him after his demise and tried to avenge him (which is what motivated part of her actions throughout the film), and stabbed a prisoner in the back with a knife to protect her mother and cared for Bane due to the latter having protected her from being attacked by the prisoners and was mad at her father for excommunicating him and even saved him from Batman.
Trivia[]
