“ | My deception made them happy, their pure hearts were just my fee. On this planet there are many foolish woman that still want to accept my proposal. | „ |
~ Mashu's depraved philosophy on why he kills women and his unforgivable justification |
“ | Sen: Among your targets is a short deka dressed like me right?
Mashu: Ah... You mean here (holding up her doll, later crushing it), even though she is a Deka she's still an idiot. Unless they truly fall for me, their pure heart won't appear. |

~ Mashu's psychopathic proclamation and words as he basks in the glory he sees in his actions |
Sukekonian Mashu is a serial killer who uses a drug called Psycho Mushrooms to change the feelings of woman to better suit him. With this he cheats on them by draining their pure hearts that form for Mashu and gains more of the drug from their sandy remains. Umeko (Deka Pink) is his 274th girlfriend when he is under the alias Hironobu and he plans to break her heart like all the others. Mashu serves as the main antagonist of an episode in Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger.
He was portrayed by Hiroyuki Matsumoto as Hironobu and Osamu Hosoi as his real self.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- By the time of the episode had killed 273 woman using the Psycho Mushrooms he illegally purchases and smuggles with the help of Agent Abrella.
- It is heavily implied that like Umeko these women fell for him and when their desires are fulfilled by Mashu under a certain alias they can only stand horrified as the man they thought was their lover kills them and essentially reduces them to ash for more drugs that sprout due to their pure heart.
- Cruelly uses the mushrooms to take the form they will fall in love with so Mashu can get closer to them in order to begin his vile process.
- His kind personality is a facade and it is revealed that he is a misogynist that feels that he is doing women a favor by ending their lives but also giving them their desires, the latter of which doesn't justify the former.
- Furthermore they are like trash to Mashu who believes there are more "foolish women" that he can prey on to collect more Psycho Mushrooms.
- Came to Umeko first and lied to her about himself posing as a friendly man and cheering her up all while knowing what her end fate will be.
- When Sen (Deka Green) puts the pieces together and discovers he is a criminal manipulating Umeko's feelings with the drug and his personality, Mashu creates a friction between Sen and Umeko's friendship albeit indirectly. As Umeko feels betrayed that Sen would ever accuse her "innocent boyfriend" of being a criminal, that he ends up being.
- When Abrella's shipment hasn't arrived yet to satiate his hunger for the mushrooms kills an innocent woman on screen as we see her turn to sand (the fate all the other 273 wives had).
- On screen murder of an innocent stands out for the standard of Dekaranger where most Alienizer Criminals are off screen murders.
- Tells the aforementioned acts he has committed to Sen once exposed with sadistic glee showing no ounce of remorse, cementing him as a hate sink.
- As Sen questions his true feelings towards Umeko, Mashu calls her an idiot and takes up a doll that she had crafted for him with love, subsequently crushing it with his foot demonstrating his heartless psychopathy and largest Moral Event Horizon.
- This symbolically represents that his relationship with Umeko was worthless and fabricated, even bringing Umeko who loved him dearly to tears when this action happened right in front of her eyes. Sen proceeded to call it unforgivable.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He fails the massive Heinous Standards of Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger to the Three Hell Siblings who despite off screen kills have slaughtered billions of innocents compared to Mashu's 274 kill count. It should be noted that they do have about the same resources as they are supplied by Abrella and the Hell Siblings merely use their fists and powers, not needing minions. It is only due to the one on screen kill and the gravity of his crimes that let him stand out enough to be Near Pure Evil.
Trivia[]
- Mashu is the 16th Super Sentai Near Pure Evil and the 3rd for his series Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger.
- He shares several glaring similarities with American serial killer Ted Bundy. Both were men who came across as impressionable young men, but were truly monsters who wanted to enact their perversion on women.
