That’s what happens when you try to oppose our empire.
~ Blakeson’s message in the ending book, sourced from Sylvia. It’s very likely that he told this to her while torturing her.

Sub Lieutenant Blakeson (shortly known as Blakeson) is a major antagonist in the Inkopolis Chaos Trilogy. He serves as one of the two unseen overarching antagonists (alongside Lieutenant Obsidian) of Inkopolis Chaos 2, and one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Scarlet Spiker) of Inkopolis Chaos 3. He is Lieutenant Obsidians second in command.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He killed Sylvia’s parents when Sylvia was only 3. This action may of been offscreen, but the impacts of it are huge. It was the main thing that caused Melissa’s distrust in octolings, so a good portion of the problems in Inkopolis Chaos 2 are because of him. It also indirectly shaped Sylvia’s personality.
  • He also killed Jade’s mother, and revealed it in a very sadistic manner. He even states he’s “killed lots of mothers”, showing that he’s killed dozens of inklings in the past.
  • He aids Lieutenant Obsidian with her crimes, and is completely fine with most of the things she does, including the destruction of ALL LIFE on the surface. He carries out every single order that she gives him, no matter how heinous.
  • It’s implied he raised his daughter to be a killer.
  • He set bombs around the prison Scarlet was being contained, which he would have detonated if the Warden/Scarlet didn’t comply, which would’ve killed a lot of the prisoners, and the ones who weren’t killed would’ve ran free to hurt people again, which would’ve caused chaos.
  • He threatens to kill Jade while aggressively grabbing her and pointing a gun at her head. When Katelin offers to be his prisoner in exchange for Jade and Summer’s freedom, he takes Katelin to the concentration camps.
  • He abuses the prisoners in the concentration camps, and it’s clearly shown by how much the prisoners loathe him. Like Obsidian, he forces them to do hard work constantly, is not above torturing them, and kills them if their not good enough.
    • When prisoners in the camps stand up against him, he uses a mind controlled steelhead to quickly scare them back in line.
  • When Sylvia takes the blame for causing a riot, he takes her to another room and tortures her. While we don’t see the torture physically take place, it was bad enough to cause Sylvia to be badly traumatised for the majority of the story, and gives her a phobia of tasers due to PTSD, which is something no other villain in the series has accomplished. While Scarlet did also torture Natalie, Natalie recovered from her torture much quicker then Sylvia did, so Blakeson’s torture was likely much worse, due to him having more options and experience then Scarlet.
    • Heck, when Sylvia fights him in the climax, he sadistically states that he “liked her better as a crybaby”.
  • He carries out Lieutenant Obsidian’s orders of the mass execution of octolings that deserted, showing no remorse for the octolings being killed, even the ones who didn’t even desert.
  • He set up bombs at cuttlefish cabin, so Lieutenant Obsidian could detonate them in an attempt to kill the agents.
  • He tried to kill Melissa and Sylvia in the climax.
  • When the Calamari Inkantation played, he tried to shoot a missile at Callie and Marie to kill them to prevent the octolings from being freed from their control. Considering how those two are idols and the reason that octolings got freed, it would’ve been a massive moral event horizon if he actually killed them.
  • When Sylvia gave him a chance to run away and never return, while he does seem genuinely surprised that Sylvia would offer him such mercy, he rejects it and tries to kill her, which results in him being defeated, and then killed by Melissa.
  • Despite acting loyal to Lieutenant Obsidian, he clearly doesn’t care about her, as he only works for her to benefit himself.
  • While at first, he seems to fail the heinous standards to his boss, he has some personal villainy that allows him to stand out from her, such as murdering Sylvia’s parents, which caused Melissa’s distrust towards octolings, and as a result, a lot of the earlier conflict in Inkopolis Chaos 2 is because of him.
  • While he does get annoyed at Obsidian for firing on her own troops, nothing indicates that he has actual care for them, as it was very likely pragmatic so they wouldn’t lose their troops. Plus, after Obsidian states she doesn’t care, he doesn’t take the matter further.
  • While he does seem surprised at Scarlet being willing to let her gang members die, and asking if she was ok with letting them and everyone else die, however, he doesn’t show actual disgust here, and it was very likely just a question to manipulate Scarlet into coming in, making the mistake that Scarlet actually cared about her gang members.
  • Overall, Blakeson is a delusional man who has no remorse for any of his actions, is fine with murder and torture, and is almost as bad as Lieutenant Obsidian.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He states that he had a daughter that he genuinely cared about, and was sad about her death.
  • He suffers from having a lot of offscreen villainy, as his many murders were all offscreen, with only the murder of Sylvia’s parents having a clear impact.
  • He agreed with Katelin’s deal to take her hostage in exchange for Jade and Summer’s freedom, despite having the ability to go back on his deal by calling troops on them after he detained Katelin and having no benefits to letting Jade and Summer go, showing he does have an honourable side to him.

Trivia[]

  • He is one of two Inkopolis Chaos villains to be Near Pure Evil, the other being Magentark Clover.
