His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- It's known, that he would frequently bully other kids when he was as young as the age of 3 just for fun despite claiming they bullied him for the sake of it, though it's very clear he is just trying to gain sympathy when he he claims that he himself was bullied. It also proves Steve was always evil. He is also, incredibly sexist and hateful towards women, including his own mother.
- Manipulated his way into O'Malley by both pretending to be a kind and pure good child and taking advantage of the Headmistress arrogance. He also, was quickly dislikes by 90% of the school within days of starting at O'Malley. He even left a bad taste in some of the school bullies mouths and members of staff sought to have the Headmistress expel him though she arrogantly said in her pride that they couldn't expel him without evidence. Though she could've looked at CCTV footage in the school.
- Shortly after starting at O'Malley, he started to manipulate a year 10 student named Tom Toosley by lying about why people mistreated him and that they seek to do the same to Tom. After about a month, Steve manipulated Tom into having an affair on his girlfriend Mellisa Barnet, with a girl from another school named Tash Coffey, something which Tom foolishly decided to do. Eventually, the girls found out what was happening and got into a dangerous fight which hospitalised both girls. Steve, then discovered that the town lacked willing kidney donners and started guilt triping Tom into donating both of his kidneys to both girls one each, knowing Tom would die quickly. This, ends up happening as before Tom's death, Steve visited the hospital as a way to add insult to injury (literally as well). He, then reveals his true colours to Tom as he revealed him and Tom's "friendship" was just a sadistic game and that Tom meant nothing to him. Tom, died minutes later due to both his body shutting down and a broken heart from Steve betrayal. It's also, heavily implied he also killed Mellisa and Tash out of fear they would deduce that he killed Tom and go to the police. This also, led to Tom being unfairly remembered as Two Time Thomas.
- Planned to commit a mass murder on O’Malley, just over petty revenge for being bullied (for reasons which are completely his own fault). He also mentions how he would give kids false hope and he planned to ruin Mrs. Siddiqi by humiliating and eventually killing her. Though to be fair, Siddiqi would’ve deserved it both for her corrupt/unfair behaviour towards her students and staff, and keeping Steve in O’Malley in spite of his unstable personality.
- Accepted dirty money from Joe older brother, Jamie Connolly to beat Joe up on his birthday as part of the birthday beats. He also demanded triple if he was able to make Joe beg. Even Jamie became worried for Joe's safety and believed it was a dangerous move by bribing someone like Steve.
- Manipulated Pete Wilson, into puting a Happy Birthday balloon in Joe locker and shout Happy birthday as loud as he could in front of everyone, knowing that Joe, Frisbo and Pete himself would get beaten up. Though luckily this backfired.
- On Jamie's orders, Steve placed a cupcake with happy birthday on in a box. He also, placed a birthday card with a voice recording of Jamie singing Happy birthday while intentionally addressing Joe by name in the recording which caused a mob that lasted for a few minutes.
- Him and John Longmore, brutally interrogated 2 innocent school girls whom the school now believes is 1 of theirs birthday. Steve also threatened to beat up both girls if they didn't give up Joe and his friends location. This wasn't a bluff either.
- Bribed Frisbo and Pete into luring Joe to the RE classroom him and several kids would be waiting to beat Joe up. Though Frisbo and Pete did it more so Joe could get his misery over with.
- When beating Joe up, Steve out of both greed and pure sadism broke Joe's arm. Though this majorly backfired as Jamie was furious at how far Steve took it, just for money and sadistic attention.
- He then, planned to destroy Joe's school life and help him with his delusional plans. There was also an element of pettiness there as well.
- Stalked Joe on a daily basis. Showing how obsessed with vengeance he is.
- Had Owen antagonise Joe and Lilly Scott, hoping to destroy their relationship after learning Lilly is Joe's weakness. He also, had Owen do horrible things to several other people.
- Manipulated Sobhan Murphy into seducing Joe Connolly during the talent show so Lilly Scott (Joe's girlfriend) would dump him. He also did this to ruin Joe and Frisbo friendship as Steve knows Joe would go after Lilly so he wouldn't be able to help with Frisbo's magic trick. This would also make Joe easier to manipulate. Afterwards, he sends Sobhan to break up with Joe, which she reluctantly does because she grew genuine feelings for Joe, while also leading a crowd which became verbally, emotionally and even physically abusive towards Frisbo. All of this is done with a smug grin on his face.
- Stole Frisbo Mickey Page football card so he could he could manipulate Joe to his side, which he succeeds in doing. He also did this, so he could permanently destroy any chance of Joe and Frisbo becoming friends again.
- Had Joe, beat on several kids. What makes this worse is that he only had him do so to the weaker kids whom barely know how to physically defend themselves.
- Stole a dummy from a karate studio and broke it with Joe intending to return it just for fun, though he did this because the owner apparently wronged him, it's probably a lie to justify him and Joe actions. He also painted a picture of Frisbo face and put it on the dummy while putting on a mocking voice impressions of him while saying deogitary things to Joe just to frustrate him. He also rants about how much he hates his mom as well.
- When Joe, saw Lilly and realised despite their break up his feelings for her were getting stronger. Steve, quickly notices this much to his anger, he then starts to throw verbal abuse towards Joe and reveals his sexist side. This was just to get a reaction of anger out of Joe.
- Told Frisbo and Pete, that Joe had stolen the Mickey Page football card. This, led to a fight between Joe and Frisbo which a teacher quickly notices and stops. Steve, then lies by claiming that Frisbo randomly attempted to steal Joe's bag and punched Joe when he attempted to stop the apparent attempted theft, Joe backs this story up as well leading to Frisbo being unfairly punished.
- While he was upset, when Joe chose to save Frisbo over helping Steve with his delusional schemes, it was only because he lost a useful ally and not because he lost a close friend. This proves Steve doesn't truly care about Joe.
- It's known that, he intended to make Lilly Scott "dissapear" so he could permanently corrupt Joe to his side. While its unknown how he intended to make Lilly Scott dissapear but it's likely he would kill her or at the very least abduct her.
- It's implied that had Joe not backstabed Steve and they went through with his plan to take over the school, had it gone wrong Steve would've pinned everything on Joe so he could get away with everything.
- While he was neglected and mistreated in the past and present by everyone around him, it ultimately fails to hold up nor excuse his actions for the following reasons:
- Being bullied and picked on is simply a natural part of life and thus is no real justification for anything Steve does.
- Threw away his chance to be happy and accepted by killing Tom Toosley. So him claiming to want acceptance completely falls flat and is another of many lies told by Steve.
- Joe "Dodo" Connolly went through the same thing and While he nearly did, refused to turn out like Steve and chose to be with his friends and family instead. In other words, Joe went through the exact same thing Steve did but never turned out like him.
- The only reason people even ignored him in the first place, is because Steve was horrible to anyone he came across just for fun.
- So overall, Steve is his own worst enemy despite refusing to realise it as if he had been a better person then he would never had been outcasted the way he did. So his excuse overall falls flat and comes across as far too petty and hypocritical on its own.
- He is major hypocrite as well as he is disgusted at Joe for "betraying" his friends (something Steve himself is the mastermind behind) yet he himself has betrayed every ally he had apart from Jamie just to save his own skin or because they failed him in some way.
- While it is mentioned in the fact file Joe wrote on Steve, that Steve likes to recycle rubbish it's pretty clear that's just apart of his Faćade when manipulating Joe.
- His actions, indirectly led to Kayla Madani villainy as she sought to incriminate and expel Joe because she thought he cheated on Lilly with Sobhan Murphy whom Steve manipulated in seducing Joe. He would also, be more than happy knowing his actions have actually corrupted someone to commit similar acts to what he himself commits, especially considering Kayla's friendship with Lilly Scott is what she uses to her advantage when against Joe making her an almost equally challenging foe for Joe, only behind Steve himself.
- While as shown in Season 2, Steve’s crimes and Joe’s experience with him did end up bettering Joe as a person and leading him to making far better choices such as accepting his break up with Lily, and redeeming Hitesh, this isn’t mitigating as this wasn’t Steve’s intention, and in fact it’s the complete opposite as Steve wanted to convert Joe into a scumbag like himself, and is very likely disappointed that Joe went in the complete opposite path that he wanted. Also, as revealed by other characters in both Seasons, Steve is such a hated person (with only one girl Roxy who is an unpleasant bully herself having an obsessive one sided crush on Steve unaware of his misogynistic behaviour), that literally anyone who sees him, very quickly isolate themselves from him, with even sadistic bullies like Aaron Keendel treating Steve with nothing but absolute disgust and contempt, or other antagonists like Hitesh Rhakara, who is mentioned to be so repulsed by Steve inspite of his own actions against Joe, that he apparently hopes Steve falls dead and never comes back. In fact, some kids, according to conversations in the background of certain scenes, mention kids being terrified to even go near the Janitors closet where Steve hangs out on his own, due to fear of being harmed in some way during break and lunch time.
- While Dodo a lot of the time is light hearted and played for laughs though not to the point of being Shock Value, Steve is taken 100% seriously with no redeeming qualities or even some comedic moments and darkens the overall story of the show.
- While like most characters on the show, Steve is a 11-13 year old child, he still retains Moral Agency and knowledge of what he's doing, because of the high level of planning required to pull off half the stuff he did, and how despite being a sadist (with said sadism backfiring on him), he's surprisingly intelligent for someone his age, especially compared to far more idiotic characters like Joe, Frisbo, Aaron, Mr. Turner, Hitesh, Nico and even Mrs. Siddiqui, which further shows that Steve retains Agency.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He is briefly played for sympathy by Joe as he is able to relate to his loneliness despite becoming lonely over very different circumstances with Joe even telling Steve he is sorry.
Trivia[]
- Considering Season 3's confirmation and Steve's possible return, Steve’s status could potentially change in the future. However, considering he didn’t appear in Season 2 and was replaced with Hitesh for unknown reasons, it’s possible that Steve’s arc won’t be fully developed until Season 3, especially as Hitesh redeemed himself in the episode Hole 7.
- He is the only Dodo villains to be Near Pure Evil.
