~ Snively after Robotnik leaves him to die. |
Snively is the secondary antagonist of the 1993 television series Sonic the Hedgehog. He is the nephew of the show's main antagonist Dr. Robotnik, whom he helps run Robotropolis and put an end to any freedom fighters.
He was voiced by Charlie Adler.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
In General[]
- He played a key role in Dr. Robotnik's takeover of Mobotropolis, and was able to help him use Sir Charles Hedgehog's roboticizer to turn a majority of the other sentient beings into robots. To make matters worse, roboticization was shown to be a very painful and frightening experience, with Charles mentioning in one episode that the robots are aware of what they are doing and can do nothing about it.
- He also showed sadism when he had Princess Sally in the roboticising machine and nearly had her roboticized.
- Although he started out as nothing more than a comical scapegoat with a cowardly streak and several incompetent moments, he eventually became a much more worse and slimy individual later on, meaning that he subverted his incompetence and became much more competent as the show progressed on. In addition, while he is regularly abused by Robotnik, Snively is still a sadist who is complicit in all of Robotnik's crimes.
- Unlike Robotnik, despite Snively's plans failing, he ultimately got away scot-free and faced no comeuppance.
Season 1[]
- He came up with a scheme to capture Sonic by hosting a race, which almost succeeded.
- He attempted to capture Baby T and his mother.
Season 2[]
- He got very close to destroying Knothole, even closer than Robotnik himself did, by taking advantage of Sonic after he was hit by a memory scrambler.
- He helped Robotnik in his scheme to find all the dragons in the world and roboticise them.
- After Naugus was set free, he took glee in seeing Robotnik getting tortured by him (though in fairness, Robotnik was regularly abusive to Snively, so his joy in seeing Robotnik being tortured is pretty understandable, and Robotnik deserved it for all of his crimes).
- He managed to find the location of a group of freedom fighters who Sonic and the rest of the Knothole Freedom Fighters were working with.
- When Sonic had him as his captive, Snively refused to tell him how to switch off Robotnik's power stations.
- He was part of Robotnik's greatest scheme, the Doomsday device, which they were going to use to eliminate all organic life on the planet.
- He was able to find one of the scrolls that he and Robotnik were going to use to find the Deep Power Stones and power the Doomsday machine.
- When he captured Antoine, he (comically) tortured him by taking advantage of Antoine's food compulsions in order to find out who had been spying on Robotnik and haulting production on the Doomsday device.
- Had Robotnik listened to Snively's warnings over Sonic and the freedom fighters nearly foiling his schemes, the latter two would likely have lost the battle in the end.
- After Robotnik's defeat, he planned to conquer Mobius himself.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- Although he is played more seriously in season 2, he still has some minor comedic moments which he does not truly subvert unlike Robotnik, such as the scene of him indirectly torturing Antoine being mostly played for laughs.
- His abuse at the hands of his uncle is sometimes played for sympathy.
Trivia[]
- As Sonic the Hedgehog was intended to have a third season before ending prematurely, this could have possibly affected Snively's Near Pure Evil status, especially given that he was going to work with the Knothole Freedom Fighters at some point, though he was planned to betray them.
