This article is for a character that is approved as a Silly Near Pure Evil example, meaning they are a character that fits the criteria while being consistently played for laughs.

NOTE: The following page is about the character played by the YouTuber Slogo, and not the person in real life.

ā€œ Timmy the intern is here! Timmy signed up for the internship willingly! (...) Take a look, Timmy! Take a look at the big city! You're never leaving. Ever. Ever ever ever. ā€ž
~ Slogo kidnaps a child to serve as the intern for his bank

Slogo, also known as Slogomans or Josh, is one of the three villainous protagonists of the long-running black comedy YouTube roleplay series Minecraft Squid Island, the fifth major entry in the Robust Troll Series. He plays with his friends, Jelly and Crainer on the survival multiplayer server and often trolls and manipulates them. He is a loosely fictionalized version of, and portrayed by, the YouTuber of the same name.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close To Being Pure Evil?[]

General[]

  • Despite Squid Island being a light-hearted comedy series, Slogo's crimes are still taken seriously in-universe, with the New Squid Island Uprising being perhaps the darkest moment in the entire show.
    • Similarly, while Slogo has a lot of comedic moments, unlike his friends, his comedy usually comes from how he reacts to their shenanigans rather than generating humour himself.
  • While Slogo often works together and jokes around with his friends during group episodes, it doesn't detract from his villainy, as it's his manipulations that convince his friends to continue associating with him.
    • All three friends are also aware that they may be backstabbed by each other at any time, so their working together is just pragmatic.
    • Jelly is also always wary of Slogo and knows better than to trust him, and while Crainer trusts Slogo much more than he should, it's because of his fanatical obsession with him.
  • Slogo's crimes are always accompanied by humorous editing, light-hearted music and him nonchalantly making quips about his wrongdoings. This doesn't detract from his villainy, as it just shows how amoral Slogo is and how casually he treats doing evil.
  • Unlike Jelly and Crainer, who absolutely dote on their pets, Slogo has little care for most of his animals and is emotionally distant from them. In fact, he shows little sorrow when they die or even just forgets about them.
    • He shows no care for his pet dog Bobby, outright telling Crainer in Episode 38 that he doesn't care for him and so taking him hostage would be useless. Not to mention that he forgets to search for him during Episode 45, leaving him buried alive for a long time, which may have put him in a Fate Worse than Death.
      • He later lies to his audience that he feels sad looking at a certain area as it's where Bobby died, even though he never confirmed if Bobby actually died and had already said that he didn't love him.
    • Although he seemed to genuinely care about Kat at first, especially because he exclaimed in relief upon discovering that she was still alive, he subverts this at the end of Season 1, where he leaves her behind to "guard Squid Island" clearly never planning to come back for her.
      • While Slogo later tells his audience that Kat actually dumped Bork, we have no proof if this is actually true, considering that Slogo's not exactly a reliable source. It's equally, if not more possible that he abandoned her just because he was bored of her as a pet.
        • Even worse, he slanders Kat's memory in Season 2, by saying that she must be living a promiscuous lifestyle back on Squid Island.
    • When noticing that his tamed horse had gone missing, Slogo was merely confused, not concerned, and asked his audience if he even had a pet horse, showing that he never took particular notice of him.
    • While he was affable to Tyke and Baby Tyke, their relationship was clearly superficial and pragmatic, as he needed them to make gunpowder, and he later left them locked in the Gunpowder Factory forever, which can't have been too enjoyable.
    • While he seemed to like Golem the Iron Golem, their relationship is way too superficial, as he overall just saw him as a funny curiosity and never worried about whether he had gotten lost or injured.
      • He didn't seem to care about Buster, his Iron Golem guard either, as he never even acknowledges that he died.
    • He was shocked upon noticing that Manager Karen the Squid had died and even held a moment of silence for her, but overall he was extremely apathetic about her death and played it as a joke.
      • He never really cared for Karen's replacement, Karon either, as while he repeatedly checked up on her, it was just to make sure he wouldn't have to get another replacement squid, and upon noticing she died, he didn't particularly care.
    • While he seemed to genuinely care about Lottie the Ocelot, given that he treated her in a similar way to Yogi, he never acknowledged that she died or showed sorrow about it, leaving it too ambiguous to be genuine.
    • When discovering Sydney's death, Slogo was less upset and more pleased that this meant Bork hadn't died.
  • He overall has essentially no care for any of the NPCs in Squid Island, even if he acts polite to them.
    • He has directly stated that villagers shouldn't have rights. He has enslaved them, making them work in his factories without pay in seemingly miserable conditions, and even placed a villager in a Fate Worse than Death by repeatedly psychologically torturing him to make Iron Golems spawn. Even in Season 2, he kidnaps villagers to work in his Squid Bank while pretending he "recruited" them.
      • Overall, he treats villagers the worst out of the trio, as the other two at least superficially care about villager rights.
    • He also shows no care about animals, as he opens Bork Co. factories where cows and chicken are kept in torturous conditions, forced to breed and roasted to death, sheep are trapped and repeatedly sheared, bees are kept in a confined space to make honey, and fish are trapped in a tiny pool to be slaughtered.
      • These factories were kept running throughout most of Season One's timeline, killing countless animals and Iron Golems.
      • This disturbed both his other friends, to the point where they called him out for animal cruelty eventually.
  • Slogo is ultimately a massive hypocrite, even moreso than his other friends.
    • He repeatedly reminds his audience that Jelly used to be a dictator, but he never acknowledges the fact that he was also a dictator, a much worse one than Jelly. In fact, Slogo is so deluded that he believes that people were happy during his reign on New Squid Island, a claim so far-fetched that even his own editor made fun of him for it.
    • Slogo also encouraged everyone to forget the past, probably to make them forget all his crimes, but he himself doesn't forget the past, clearly still holding grudges against Jelly because of his dictatorship.
    • Similarly, Slogo loves using the letter of the law to justify his actions, such as saying that his Bork Co. factories are acceptable as they're not technically illegal, or that Crainer is completely in the wrong for breaking the fraudulent contract he signed with Slogo. However when somebody else abuses laws, Slogo starts pointing to the spirit of the law instead, such as rebelling against Jelly for being a dictator, even though Jelly technically didn't break any laws by making himself one.
      • While Slogo does accurately calls out others for their wrongdoings, such as saying it's wrong of Jelly to make himself a dictator or that Crainer should have shown ambition for his business, he ultimately refuses to acknowledge his own shortcomings. This only makes Slogo even worse as he very clearly knows what's right and wrong yet doesn't apply those rules on himself.
    • After denying Jelly and Crainer the ability to extend their lands, Slogo tells his audience that it's a necessary evil as otherwise anybody could claim as much land as he wanted. However, as the President, he's the only one who has power to do this, giving himself an entire island without protocol.
    • Despite the fact that Slogo himself repeatedly abused his powers during his Presidency, especially by assigning Jelly and Crainer tasks that only benefit Bork Co, when Crainer abuses his presidential powers against him by making laws that harm Bork Co, Slogo calls it out as being unfair, again showing that he only notices others' offenses against him and not his own.
      • He then became disillusioned with the idea of having laws and roleplaying on the server, despite the fact that just a few episodes ago he was the greatest supporter of having laws, even having claimed that his leadership was so much better than Crainer's.
        • Crainer even calls him out for this during the Revolutionary Era, however, Slogo merely handwaves it by saying that he's changed his mind on laws being a good thing, while not acknowledging any of his hypocrisy.
    • Even as a revolutionary, Slogo tells Jelly that he shouldn't be roleplaying that the King Squids have any sapience or intelligence, but he then makes up the tale of King Henward to support his agenda, who, according to him, was sapient and the real ruler of Squid Island all along.
      • Slogo later says that King Henward was actually just a metaphor for the ideology of the Grove, but this doesn't change the fact that he was also pretending that a King Squid had sapience, which would make him just as bad, if not even worse than Jelly.
    • Slogo once says that racism isn't cool, when his friends were making fun of his British accent, however, he not only shows himself to be extremely racist against villagers, but he doesn't mind making fun of others for things they can't control, like making fun of Jelly's height. Once again, it shows that he doesn't practice what he preaches.
    • Slogo also says that it's mean to make fun of others people's builds, but again, he doesn't mind doing it himself.
      • Overall, while Slogo's friends are also occasionally hypocrites, Slogo's hypocrisy runs the deepest out of the trio and is by far the most malevolent.
  • Slogo has a disturbing lack of empathy for his friends. He shows no empathy to Crainer for being psychologically tortured, scammed and having his pet dogs killed by him. Similarly, he shows no sympathy to Jelly for having a bad time due to being poor, instead calling him lazy and ungrateful, simply saying he should pull himself up by his bootstraps and "improve his vibes".
  • He is very manipulative, especially towards his audience and Crainer. He uses half-truths, exaggerating other peoples' flaws while completely ignoring his own.
    • He successfully convinced Crainer to serve him on New Squid Island, sign a lease with him, send Jelly to prison and even that Jelly was a dictator.
    • He manipulates his audience a lot of times to support him. He often tells them that his actions are a necessary evil or "morally grey" when they're actually just evil and selfish.
      • For example, telling them that his friends are just a "worse version of himself" and that they could ruin the island if voted for, or that it's fair for him to claim an entire island for himself, or that he's the only one who can keep the island's valuables "safe" or that the punishment he is giving to Jelly is fair etc.
  • Slogo sometimes does nice things for others, however these are almost always done for pragmatic reasons, and not out of the kindness of his heart, preventing them from being true Pet-the-Dog moments. Even if they are genuine moments, they are usually soon subverted.
    • While Slogo lets his friends have Bork Co. products for free, originally he tried to make them pay him for them, but eventually lost interest in doing so, possibly because he knew his friends would steal the products whether he tried to stop them or not, and he was already infinitely rich.
    • Similarly, he always gifts a free sample of Bork Co. products to his friends whenever he makes a new factory, but not only are those products free anyway, but it seems to be to impress them.
  • Unlike Jelly, who was always loyal to the King Glowey lineage, and Crainer, who eventually lost his care for them, Slogo never cared about the Gloweys at all.
    • Upon accidentally killing King Glowey I, Slogo was temporarily shocked, but then used King Glowey's "disappearance" as a way to benefit himself.
    • While he punished Crainer for killing King Glowey II accidentally, this is not only hypocritical and fanatical, but he pinned the majority of the blame for the crime on Jelly. Essentially, he wanted an excuse to antagonise Crainer without suffering consequences for it.
    • While he seemed somewhat loyal to King Glowey III at first, he later subverted this by calling him a fraud and a fake monarch.
      • He later told Crainer to think of King Glowey III as a confused animal being exploited by Jelly, but this is clearly just a new narrative he had decided to follow.
  • Slogo has basically no honour at all. He does his best to twist narratives to portray himself as a victim or saviour, lies in court and about King Glowey's death, and he runs away from Squid Island during the Revolutionary Era rather than face the consequences of his actions.
    • While he is a good businessman who is (occasionally) honest, it's for pragmatic reasons. Especially considering how unethical his business already is.
    • While he was once mad at Crainer for not showing ambition for his business and building a house for himself when he was supposed to build a factory, ultimately it's because he felt that Crainer had been disrespecting his command as President, rather than any integrity or standards. Even if it was a genuinely honourable moment, Slogo soon subverted it when he sunk into corruption at the end of his second term.
  • Slogo has little respect for both his friends. He has said that he is the smartest, most capable and overall best of his friends several times. He especially makes it clear that he doesn't respect Crainer, as he repeatedly bullies him even when he's loyal to him.
  • Slogo almost never shows genuine remorse for any of his actions.
    • While he surprisingly states during the Revolutionary Era that he felt remorse for killing Anton and Banton, given that over a hundred episodes had passed from that moment to this and Slogo never showed any hangups about it or even acknowledged it before, it's safe to assume this was another tactic to get his fans to sympathise with him.
  • While Slogo likes claiming that he's an extremist whose actions are necessary to "protect Squid Island" this is nothing but an excuse for his actions. A cursory glance at all his actions shows that this is completely false.
    • On New Squid Island, he had no problems with burning the sacred Squid Island items just to spite his friends.
    • He claims the same thing at the end of his second presidential term, even though he had openly began passing laws that only favoured his company Bork Co.
    • Even if Slogo's goals of bringing anarchy to Squid Island were justified, not only were his motivations fully selfish (he clearly only became an anarchist to escape the consequences of his actions), but all of his worst crimes were committed without this excuse even being present.
      • Overall, extremism is never a valid excuse for Slogo's actions.
  • While Slogo often talks about the beauty in nature during the later parts of the series, such as talking about how beautiful the Grove is, it's likely that this is faked, as he possibly thought that talking about the beauty of nature will make his audience buy into his spiel about being an anarchist.
    • Even if it is genuine, it ultimately isn't a redeeming quality, as Slogo shows no concern about animal welfare or rights at all even after he creates the Grove, which means he simply likes nature whenever it looks pleasing to him, rather than specifically caring about the people or animals who live in it.
  • Unlike his other two friends, who have many vulnerable moments where they are portrayed sympathetically by the narrative, or have character building moments where they show care for each other, Slogo has almost none of these moments, as he refuses to let himself be vulnerable at any point in the series, and all care he shows for others is either faked or greatly stilted. Even when something bad happens to him, he much more than deserves it.
    • While Slogo is sometimes shown to be socially awkward, this is not even the slightest excuse for his actions.
  • While Slogo often shows shock after certain things happen, such as after accidentally killing King Glowey or after Jelly reveals he fed Floppy to Crainer, he gets over it quickly, showing it wasn't out of any moral standards.
  • While Slogo repeatedly calls Jelly "vengeful" in a demeaning way, he is overall just as, if not more vengeful than Jelly when actually tallying up their deeds.
  • While Slogo "redeems" himself at the start of Season 2, it's not too long before he goes back to his old ways. Besides, it was not a genuine redemption in the first place, as while Slogo didn't do anything particularly evil during this time and even did some good deeds, ultimately he never showed remorse for or acknowledgement of his evil actions.
  • It is possible he is misogynistic, given that he arrogantly named his own island in Season 2 as Alpha Squid Island, as well as the way he treated Kat.
  • While he doesn't betray Crainer again after the Shattered Era, this doesn't mean that he grew to respect him either, as he once openly tells Crainer that he's more sad about his ship being destroyed than his pet being killed.

Season One[]

Foundational Era[]
  • According to Crainer, Slogo was significantly frostier in his interactions with him and was reluctant to let him rejoin the group. This made Crainer give him a better gift than Jelly's in an attempt to appease him.
  • Although at the beginning of the series, Slogo stated that he was trying to be nicer to his friends and thus tried to be a good person, for example by replanting Crainer's wheat and even donating to Jelly's pyramid, it wasn't too long before he became the most cruel and selfish of the trio, with nothing capable of justifying his actions. He even destroyed the pyramid that he had donated to.
  • He planned to take all the wheat from Crainer's farm and not even replant it, although he did change his mind.
  • To get revenge on Jelly for stealing his items and being annoying, Slogo trapped his chest with TNT so that it would destroy his items.
Regal Era[]
  • He built a wishing well on the island that was actually connected to his house so that any valuables somebody dropped in would go directly to him, although Jelly immediately found out.
  • He filled the hole in Jelly's house (that was connected to his secret basement) with cows so he wouldn't have to hear their noises. He even bred more cows in the basement.
    • In the same episode, he stole two stacks of wood logs from Jelly, while calling it a generous donation.
  • He met up with Crainer in a semi-group recording and made a deal with him: he would help Crainer ransack and destroy Jelly's pyramid and build a sandcastle for him in its place, and in exchange he would get any loot they found in Jelly's house, as well as Crainer promising to take all of the blame.
    • The destruction of his pyramid would traumatise Jelly, almost causing him to cry, and making him have a miserable time in the next episode, making him want to leave the series.
    • This troll would also have overarching effects on the rest of the series, as it brought about the concept of laws to prevent trolls from being too severe, and Jelly was implied to favour laws so much (and possibly be a dictator) because it would prevent such a thing from happening to him again.
    • While Slogo then "made up" for the troll by renovating Jelly's house in the sky, and even stated in the video description that he felt bad for doing it, in the video itself Slogo is only mocking towards Jelly, insulting his house by calling it ugly, and saying he'll renovate it to prevent Jelly from finding out of his involvement with Crainer. Thus, unlike Crainer, Slogo showed no remorse for what he did.
Legal Era[]
  • Although he was forced to move out of his lighthouse entirely and build a new house for himself because of Mayor Jelly's new law, he more than deserved it for having destroyed Jelly's pyramid and not shown remorse for it.
  • To get revenge on Mayor Jelly's law, Slogo did the task he was given, to renovate Squid Island's pathways, deliberately poorly by covering them in his signature colour red.
Broken Era[]
  • Slogo created a plan to start a troll war with his friends, by diverting Jelly's lava beacon so that it covered his pyramid, leaving a message inside that claimed Mayor Crainer was the culprit, and even creating an alibi for himself by building a flower shop that had been partially burned.
    • This troll worked perfectly, and Crainer was completely unable to defend himself for what happened, causing Jelly to treat him with harshness upon becoming Mayor.
    • To make things worse, Slogo even pushed Crainer on top of Jelly's pyramid, meaning that he violated Law 1, and now must pay a fine of ten diamonds. When Crainer said he only had five diamonds, Jelly and Slogo bullied Crainer into giving up his diamond chestplate in its place, even though it was worth more than the five remaining diamonds.
    • After finding out Crainer did a fairly innocuous troll on him as revenge, Slogo makes sure to prosecute Crainer and ensure he has to pay 10 more diamonds for it.
    • In the next episode, after being tasked with Jelly to deconstruct the broken house in the sky, Slogo used TNT to do the job, which was nothing but an excuse to "accidentally" land some on Crainer's house. This also ended up ruining the upside down pyramid that Jelly had.
    • Slogo also borrowed Crainer's forfeited diamond chestplate for his own purposes without asking or consulting anybody.
    • He also changed the colour of the three sheep Crainer had been asked to collect, all to yellow so that Crainer would get in even more trouble with Mayor Jelly.
      • All of this psychological abuse and pressure caused Crainer to start crying in the next group episode.
      • After being forced to tell the truth about what happened due to Jelly's new law, Slogo still tried to twist the truth as much as possible rather than owning up, first by trying to trap Crainer in misleading questions and then by attempting to avoid giving straight answers himself.
  • He covered Crainer's secret empty chest in obsidian and also trapped Anton in there as well. His plan was to get an excuse to have a long session in the Town Hall so he could assassinate Mayor Jelly.
    • Although Slogo apologised to Anton for trapping him, he later killed him directly, thus subverting any affability towards him.
  • He killed a villager who escaped Squid City, although it was on Jelly's orders.
  • Slogo placed TNT under Mayor Jelly's lectern to assassinate him because he was a dictator, however, it's very obvious that he did this not out of any well-intentioned reasons, but so he could get revenge on Jelly and then make himself the new dictator.
  • Slogo declared a nearby island to be the New Squid Island, where he planned to rule. He tried to take King Glowey I along with him, but accidentally caused him to die of suffocation.
    • While this was an accident and Slogo was shocked, he then used King Glowey I's disappearance to profit himself, by claiming that the King had hidden himself away and given him supreme powers in the meantime.
  • He stole Jelly's netherite ingots and other valuable resources upon finding his secret chest, saying that it was fair game due to it being a time of war. He also re-drenched Jelly's pyramid in lava like before. And upon finding Crainer's secret bunker, Slogo immediately stole all of his Netherite resources from his chest, leaving him a taunting message about it all.
    • To make this even worse, Crainer had written him a friendly message in case he stumbled onto the bunker, only for Slogo to do this instead.
  • After finding out that Crainer had brought a lot of livestock with him to New Squid Island, Slogo slaughtered the vast majority of the animals and kept the rest in a pen.
    • He then declared that the tower Crainer had built for himself to live in was the Glowey Tower instead, probably intending to make it his living quarters, and instead gave Crainer a tiny pathetic hut to live in.
      • He also stole some of Crainer's most valuable remaining resources and then destroyed the rest of his item chests so that Crainer would have nothing left and be forced to depend on him.
  • He created the worst and most corrupt laws in Squid Island's history by rewriting all of the laws of the previous lawbook. These laws included:
    • King Glowey I has appointed Slogo as the new Mayor-Regent, and only he can remove him from this position (King Glowey is dead, so Slogo will be in power forever).
    • Harming, stealing from, offending or even disobeying the Mayor-Regent in any way is punishable by death. This essentially makes Slogo guilty of slavery and cruel and unusual punishments at a large scale.
    • Democracy and voting is now illegal.
    • All land and items are property of the Mayor-Regent.
      • In the next episode, widely considered to be the darkest time in Squid Island's history, Slogo ordered both Jelly and Crainer to obey him. When Jelly refused, Slogo had him killed by Crainer several times and stored all of his gear and resources in his Ender Chest, completely bankrupting him. Crainer was then ordered to kill his pet dogs to prove his loyalty to Slogo, and when he refused, Slogo murdered both of them himself, seemingly out of boredom. It was then Crainer's turn to be murdered and have his gear and items stolen and taken by Slogo.
      • Finally, when Jelly and Crainer immensely pressured him, he finally revealed that King Glowey was actually dead, causing them to revolt and burn his dictatorship to the ground.
        • Filled with spite and rage, he burns up the sacred Squid Island items that were a symbol of its cultural history.
        • These events caused the friend group to be torn apart temporarily and could have caused the end of Squid Island entirely.
District Era[]
  • After separating from his friends, Slogo was the one least affected by the ordeal and claimed he had tried to "save" Squid Island.
  • While Slogo was under the mistaken belief that his pet Bobby had been killed by Jelly's lava, this doesn't make him sympathetic as he had already said he didn't love him.
  • While he gives Crainer back his 24 diamonds that he gave him as part of the Treaty of Squid Island, and then he later gave Jelly and Crainer a "care package" each containing some resources, this doesn't make him remorseful or even an atoner, as he partially gave the diamonds back to one-up Jelly, and then used the fact that he had given away diamonds as an excuse to not give up his Netherite gear, which was made from resources stolen from the other two.
    • It should also be noted that Slogo had the best gear possible on the island and a stack of diamonds left over, so he could fully afford to return the gift and thus improve his reputation in the process.
  • After Crainer accidentally killed King Glowey II, Jelly and Slogo worked together to blow up the bottom of his skyscraper as revenge, displaying fanaticism.
    • Slogo also betrayed Jelly by indirectly making him be the one to set off the explosives, and then told Crainer that it had been mostly Jelly's idea, making Crainer target Jelly.
    • To make this even worse, when Crainer pointed out that he had also killed a Glowey by accident, Slogo lied that King Glowey I's death was actually a suicide.
    • While he helped Jelly save his forest after Crainer set it on fire, given that he had already betrayed Jelly, it's more likely that he did this to try and get Jelly back on his side in-case Crainer attacked his property next.
  • After finding out that Jelly had built a pressure plate system to blow up parts of Crainer and Slogo's property if they stepped on his land, Slogo removed most of the TNT from under his property and then deliberately set off the pressure plates so that it would blow up mostly Crainer's property, and then accused Jelly of having done this himself.
    • When he was caught for having done this, he claimed it was an accident that he set off the pressure plates.
    • He also told Crainer that Jelly didn't deserve forgiveness for planning to blow up some of his property.
  • He proposed creating a Squid Island Marketplace where the friends would trade with each other, saying this would give an opportunity for the "poor people" to catch up, thus again showing he had no sympathy for Jelly being poor.
  • When finding out that Crainer had created Restaurant No-Fish, Slogo at first donated chicken to it to be friendly, but he subverted this later.
  • He played a prank on the naĆÆve Crainer by tricking him into signing a lease that would give him part of his land, on which he was going to build a "meat factory" for Crainer's new Restaurant No-Fish. Crainer didn't notice that the lease he signed with Slogo was completely in the latter's favour, essentially signing away part of his land (the lease was only for six weeks, but reading it a little carefully showed that Slogo could extend the time whenever he wanted), and the meat factory Slogo built was actually a fish factory where tropical fish were trapped in a tiny confined pool to be slaughtered and then eaten raw.
    • In the group episode, Crainer was horrified to find what Slogo had done, as he forced him to serve fish in his Restaurant No-Fish, even forcing him to eat a fish himself, despite knowing that Crainer was a carnitarian who didn't eat fish for moral reasons.
    • Although Slogo had his meat factory later blown up, this doesn't make him sympathetic and he got his revenge on Crainer anyway.
  • He killed Jelly's pet Beenny when he was trapped in the lava tower by inadvertently drowning him in water.
    • While this was an accident and Slogo was even remorseful, he later confessed in his video description that he isn't that sad about it because it was pretty funny.
  • While one of Slogo's presidential promises was to make sure everybody's pets were protected, however this only makes him a hypocrite since at this stage, he was the one who killed the most number of pets.
Industrial Era[]
  • He assigned Jelly to repair the city from all of its damages, despite the fact that Crainer had caused more damages and so should have been given that task.
  • He built an entire prison on what had previously been Old New Squid Island, and sent Crainer to jail for breaking his contract that he signed with Slogo, even though the contract was fraudulent. Even Jelly pointed out that Slogo abused Crainer's trust by betraying him.
    • One of the tasks Crainer had in prison was to build a statue of the President, this clearly being Slogo feeding his own ego.
    • While he did return the land back to Crainer, and claimed it was an act of mercy, this doesn't make him honourable as he had signed a fraudulent contract with Crainer in the first place (taking advantage of his naĆÆvety and traumatising him by making him eat fish), and then sent him to jail for breaking that contract. If he really was so merciful, he would have empathised with Crainer rather than treating him as a common criminal and then thinking of himself as generous for returning the land.
  • Crainer beseeched President Slogo to let him have his land back that was legally claimed by Jelly, as he would want it to expand his new business. As Slogo's presidential promises did include promising to support local businesses, Slogo decided to take his side. Despite the fact that the land was not for sale, Slogo and Crainer forced Jelly to sell the land without his consent, claiming that his lava tower was not useful to the island. President Slogo allowed Crainer to purchase the land in an auction system, and Crainer got the land back for free, which is extremely unethical and unfair.
    • Slogo also had a giant statue of his pet Bork on his land, which was also not "useful", so this only makes him a hypocrite for calling Jelly's lava tower useless.
  • At the end of his first term, Slogo asked for gifts from the other two residents of Squid Island.
Shattered Era[]
  • Because Crainer was being very annoying and had also broken his promise to build a factory on his new land, as well as not given him a gift, Slogo decided to severely punish him under the false pretense that he forgot to pledge allegiance, taking the suggestion from Jelly that he should be anvilled to death and then have his items burnt up.
    • While Slogo did later update the law and make it less burdensome for Crainer, he spoke to him in a condescending way about it, and as Crainer pointed out, he only updated it after brutally punishing him. Thus, it's not really a Pet-the-Dog moment.
    • While he calls Jelly a "good, upstanding citizen" during one episode and even orders Crainer to apologise to him, it's because Jelly had been flattering him that entire episode. He later quickly subverts any respect for Jelly when he started protesting against his rule.
  • While Slogo seemed like an extremist at first because he encouraged small businesses as one of his presidential promises, and also seemed like he genuinely wanted Crainer to improve his company for the betterment of Squid Island, he subverts this redeeming quality at the end of his second term when he began openly favouring only his company Bork Co.
  • Slogo became extremely hypocritical when he declared that expanding one's land without a permit from the President was illegal, even though it was a grey area in the law. He gave himself an entire island immediately by just signing a permit for himself, but he then ordered Jelly and Crainer to remove the little bit of land they had extended as they didn't have a permit, ruining their entire builds.
    • Only after his own land was secured, Slogo made a law that one must get permission from the President with a two weeks notice before they could extend their land. When Jelly and Crainer began calling him out on his immense hypocrisy, pedantry and animal cruelty, he just accused them of "yapping".
    • He fully showed that he had gone mad with power when he began referring to Squid Island as "Bork Island" and assigned Jelly and Crainer tasks that only benefitted Bork Co. (he assigned Jelly to build a bone statue on Bork Island as celebration of Bork Co.'s expansion and assigned Crainer to upgrade Bork Co.'s private wheat farm to an automatic one). He also assigned a very heavy tax of 64 diamonds to each of them, which he could afford to pay but they couldn't.
  • While he spent the entirety of Episode 115 worried for Bork's safety after Jelly built a dead dog statue of him, he fully deserved this for all he had done.
  • In Episode 115, he also made a secret and extremely corrupt law that would allow the President to claim a portion of the wealth in the Squid Island Vault, according to his own discretion, which mean that he could steal the entire resources of the vault if he so pleased.
    • This shows that he had no loyalty to Squid Island whatsoever and only wanted to steal the diamonds he had forced his friends to gather. And while he claimed that in these troubled times only Bork Co. could protect the wealth of the island, he is still nothing more than a corrupt embezzler.
    • And while he did only take 3 diamonds from the vault in the end, it was only because Jelly had caused many other valuables to be blown up and had also called him out for such a terrible law. The fact that he built an entire new vault to secure the valuables he was going to acquire shows that he was planning on taking much more than three diamonds.
  • He decided to endorse Crainer to be the next President of Squid Island, partially because Crainer had promised to let him keep his island without consequences, and partially because he felt Crainer would have more leniency on Bork Co.
    • Despite having taken what was essentially a bribe from him, Slogo still scammed Crainer by building a giant sign endorsing Bork Co. on his land, with only a tiny part saying to vote for Crainer, even though Crainer had asked him to build a billboard on his land that supported him.
  • He built an extremely cruel and Draconian work camp for Jelly in prison, ordering him to fill entire chests with stone, fish and wood, as well as convert an entire stack of gravel to flint and write a book about his wrongdoings and how he would improve in the future, before he could be let out. These tasks were so pointless and extreme that it was less corrective labour and more like physical torture. While Jelly definitely deserved to be punished for blowing up the vault, Slogo shows he's punishing Jelly out of vindictive sadism rather than any desire for rehabilitation, unlike what he claims.
    • To make it even worse, Slogo had Jelly's presidential stage turned into a courtroom for him. He also somewhat manipulated Crainer and made him see the situation as more black-and-white than it was, all to get Jelly punished.
  • Upon getting a task from President Crainer to build a "communal food supply" in Squid City, Slogo found such a task to be stupid and pointless, and so built the tiniest, most sorry excuse for a farm he could, while placing more Bork Co. advertising on top of it.
    • While he was correct that the task was actually pretty stupid, Crainer pointed out that he still disrespected him as President and thus burnt his Bork Co. Sign.
  • In Episode 131, Slogo had extremely poor vibes throughout, constantly negatively comparing Crainer's presidency with his own, which shows that despite constantly lecturing Jelly about his vibes, Slogo himself only had good vibes when he was in power or having fun. He also stole the Squid City Beacon, and put it in the Museum on his land without asking or consulting with anybody.
    • Slogo is also a hypocrite for building a Squid Island Museum to preserve its history, despite the fact that he is the one who destroyed the sacred / culturally significant Squid Island items back during the first Squid Island War.
  • Although he spent all of Episode 133-35 miserable because President Crainer had been targeting him to get revenge and ordered some of his factories to be shut down, he much more than deserved this for the immense amount of corruption and problems he caused, and the fact he was so upset shows that he is unable to bear even a fraction of the suffering he makes others go through.
Revolutionary Era[]
  • He created the idea of the Cult of King Henward, an anarchistic heretical group that wanted to remove all laws from Squid Island and also claimed that King Glowey III was a false monarch.
  • He believed Jelly was a dictator who had somehow influenced or manipulated Crainer into making him the next President, which couldn't be further from the truth. He also held a meeting with Jelly on Saturday where he refuses to acknowledge any of his points as being right, only believing what he had already convinced himself of.
  • He wrote a letter to Crainer, where he somehow managed to convince him that Jelly had manipulated him all along to become President, and even resurrected Anton and Banton, giving them as a gift to Crainer so that he would join his side.
  • Both he and Crainer refused to understand that although Jelly was impersonating King Glowey III, he wasn't doing it to grab power, but because he genuinely believed it was the best thing for Squid Island (roleplaying). Not to mention that both of them refused to compromise with Jelly even though he was being very reasonable, calling him a dictator even though he was trying to hold new elections.
  • Crainer accidentally shot and killed King Henward II with an arrow, at which point him and Slogo decided to reveal that they never believed in King Henward being the real monarch of Squid Island, and it was all just a excuse for them to enforce the anarchistic philosophy of the Cult of Henward. This means that Slogo was lying to his audience about King Henward II that entire time when claiming he was the real monarch.
  • While he constantly kept telling Crainer not to be so mean to Jelly, it was for pragmatic reasons as he wanted Jelly to join his side and forget all about laws and being a "dictator".
  • He, together with Crainer, flooded Squid City and the walls of Squid Island with water, and let King Glowey III out of his cage. They then wrote a message to Jelly inviting him to join them even after what they had just done.
    • Slogo and Crainer were trying to put Jelly in a dilemma here. Jelly had (according to them) been pretending that King Glowey had sapience and could pass on new laws and rules, when he was actually just seizing power through him. So even if King Glowey died because of their attack, it would've been "his own choice".
  • While he was shocked at HUMPy's death and even told Crainer he was sorry about it, he seemed to be slightly smirking the entire time, so it's probably not genuine.
  • He decided to continue on the ideology of the Grove even after being brought back to Squid Island, by vandalising the entire place with moss and then building a secret underground Grove, all while planning to blow up the walls.
  • Under Crainer's instructions, he built a gunpowder factory that would be used to gather enough TNT to blow up the walls. He then distracted Jelly by taking him to the End, leaving Crainer behind to carry out the plan.
    • He also bred Jelly's cat Melvin, without Jelly's consent, with Tyke in order to birth Baby Tyke. He then left Tyke and Baby Tyke locked in the Gunpowder Factory forever.
  • While he was shocked that Crainer would choose to blow up all of Squid Island, this was for pragmatic reasons, not moral ones.

Season Two[]

Reconstructional Era[]
  • He manipulated Jelly into forgiving him and Crainer for everything, despite the fact that they absolutely didn't deserve to be forgiven for either their corruption, rebellion or Crainer's killing of Jelly's pets.
Economic Era[]
  • He mentions that he will reopen some of the old Bork Co. factories in the future, thus planning to start abusing animals in large numbers again.
  • Despite claiming he is opening the Squid Bank in honour of squids, Slogo still doesn't have any particular care for them.
  • He replaces Manager Karen as the manager of the bank, aiming to prevent anyone from finding out she died, as that would cause people to doubt the integrity of Squid Bank, which is "a very prestigious institution".
  • He wrote a secret message to Crainer, paying him to troll Jelly so that Jelly would feel his valuables were unsafe in his land and thus deposit them in Slogo's bank.
  • In the Trial Chambers episode, he hid some of the valuables he got away from his friends, claiming that they must have done the same thing.
  • In the Pirate Flag Episode, he constantly pressured Crainer to give him the Wither Skulls, really wanting to spawn the Wither on Crainer's island. After Crainer made him promise he wouldn't spawn the Wither, he still did so upon getting the skulls and so breaking the promise, although distributing some of the responsibility to Jelly.
    • As Jelly relates, Slogo placed the Soul Sand and gave him the Wither Skulls, and Jelly placed down two of them before giving the last back to Slogo to place.
  • He gave Crainer a lot of Flints-and-Steel on Jelly's island, trying to get Crainer to burn down the whole forest.
  • Although he got molested by Jelly's pet Sniffer and seems to have been slightly traumatized by it, this doesn't make him sympathetic as he was already evil before this happened and stayed evil after.
  • He kidnapped a baby villager from a faraway village, named Timmy, to serve as the intern in his bank. He even defended his actions to Crainer by saying that because Timmy is grown up now, it's okay (even though this is essentially grooming). He later kidnapped another villager named Tammy.
  • He works together with Crainer to bring a Raid to an innocent village so they can 'save' it, killing many villagers indirectly in the process.
    • When Crainer says that it's kind of messed up that they're doing this, Slogo claims that the villagers should actually be thankful to them for what they're doing.
  • He says that he feels bad about locking away the Squid Bank valuables instead of having them out in the open, but it seems he was talking about how it would make people less confident in the bank, rather than it being a point of honour for him.
  • When the IP is leaked, he tells Crainer he's more sad about his boat being destroyed as opposed to his pet being killed. And he shows little sadness for many of his pets and other NPCs being killed.
  • While he was left all alone on the destroyed Squid Isles after Jelly abandoned him, and his "best friend" Crainer committed suicide in front of him, as well as having all his NPCs and pets killed and property destroyed, this does not make him sympathetic as he more than deserved this for all he had done over the course of the series.

What Prevents Him From Being Pure Evil?[]

  • Despite being a sociopath with no care for the vast majority of NPCs in Squid Island and even his own pets, there are still a handful of people and animals Slogo genuinely cares for.
    • Out of all of Slogo's pets, the only one he genuinely loves is Bork. He is much more openly friendlier and playful with him than others, and on some occasions, like when Jelly threatens to kill Bork, he shows that he is genuinely afraid for his life and wants to protect him from harm. He also sounded genuinely fearful when he thought Bork may have died in the IP Leak.
      • However, it should be noted that Bork looks identical to Bobby, who Slogo treated terribly. This may mean he treats Bork well only due to him being the face of his brand and an extension of himself, making this a minor prevention.
    • Slogo also likes Yogi the Panda, treating him very well, and lavishing him by letting him live in a bamboo enclosure on part of his island. He also exclaimed with sadness upon finding Yogi's grave during the IP Leak.
    • Although Slogo has no respect whatsoever for his two friends, showing a willingness to enslave, torture, murder and steal from them as well as kill their pets, it can be argued that he has a very twisted care for them deep down, as he does very occasionally do nice things for them that don't have pragmatic reasons behind them.
  • He shows some Pet-the-Dog moments, usually towards his friends, and especially in Season 2.
    • Although he partially subverted it by saying he found it funny, Slogo did genuinely try and save Beenny's life from the lava tower and was distraught when he killed him by accident.
      • During the Second Squid Island War, he also tried to put out the fire on Beenny's wool monument that was set by Crainer, only stopping once it's clear that it's beyond saving.
    • He rescues the resurrected Anton and Banton when they are trapped in lava, saying he can't just focus on saving his own pets. While it could have been just so he could keep up a good relationship with Crainer, he seemed to be actually concerned for them.
    • He gifts both his friends a set of iron tools at the start of Season 2, seemingly for an altruistic reason.
    • He builds a Community Portal on Portal Island for everyone to use, saying he's doing something nice for his friends.
    • He lets a captured Iron Golem go free in Episode 179, although it's not treated as particularly important by the narrative.
    • He also seems to transition from Faux Affably Evil to Minor Affably Evil by the time of Season 2, which may mean he's slowly becoming a better person.
      • Some examples of his affability are telling Jelly that his giant tree actually looks impressive, thanking Crainer for tipping him extra and sounding genuinely grateful about it, and also telling his friends that they can keep the furniture from the Trial Chambers if they want.
  • He has some standards, as he was disgusted at hearing of Jelly's apparent "fetishes" of watching bees pollinate flowers and turtles lay eggs, although this was played for comedy.

Trivia[]

  • Slogo is commonly thought of online as being the most "morally correct" of the three protagonists which may hamper his Near Pure Evil status. However, this is simply just alternate character interpretation, and so, he ultimately keeps his status.
  • Crainer makes a statement in Episode 77 that "this is the second time I've eaten my own pet because of you guys!" which implies that the events of PigTown are canon to Squid Island. If this is confirmed true, it's unclear how it would affect Slogo's status, though he would probably remain a Near Pure Evil.
