His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- De Luca was already an arms dealer and businessman for terrorists who had a habit of betraying and murdering his partners for his own benefit.
- When the CIA began to catch onto his schemes, De Luca ordered two of his employees to switch Ford's backpack with an identical one with a bomb in it so he would unknowingly set the bomb off in public in Paris, which would've killed dozens to hundreds at a concert, in order to get footage of a CIA operative setting off a bomb in public through his employee taking photos of it to frame the CIA.
- When meeting with Rayna and Fine at his villa, he is immediately suspicious of Fine being an ex-CIA agent and almost orders his henchmen to kill him. The only reason he doesn't is because Susan Cooper intervenes and convinces De Luca that he needs the both of them.
- Even then, De Luca threatens that if Cooper tries anything, he'll "send (her) and (her) boyfriend to heaven."
- When Rayna reveals the nuke to Solsa, De Luca takes the opportunity and betrays all of them by shooting and killing Dudaev and having his men kill Dudaev's enforcements with garrotes.
- De Luca then reveals that he plans to sell the nuke to another buyer for 500 million euros, knowing that the buyer will use it in New York City.
- He then attempts to escape and kill Rayna, Fine, and Susan, wounding Fine and almost choking Susan out on two seperate occasions before she outsmarts him and pushes him off his helicopter.
- His relationship with his henchmen is purely professional, with him not showing any care when they get killed by Susan.
- While the film is a comedy, De Luca and his plans are taken pretty seriously.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- Despite him being taken generally seriously, his ambiguous fate of being distracted by a necklace he calls ugly, only to get pushed off his helicopter and into a lake is still pretty comedic.
Trivia[]
- Bobby Cannavale plays the antagonist to a character Melissa McCarthy plays in another movie called Thunder Force.
