If we are to achieve salvation. His blood must flow! He must be purged! Spill his blood. The blood of the heretic!
~ Sean, ordering his cult to kill Frank West.

Sean Keanan is an antagonist in the 2006 video game Dead Rising. He is a delusional man who leads the raincoat cult which wants to purge the tainted blood of survivors hoping it will lead to the "salvation of the soul" which includes sacrificing survivors through rituals and praying to a mannequin who he mistakes as an unnamed goddess in the movie theater, Coldy's Movieland, before he is eventually killed by Frank West.

He was voiced by the late Peter Reneday in the Original and by Sean Hobday-Smith in the Deluxe Remaster version.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • When the outbreak started, he started a cult named The True Eye, which involved sacrificing survivors in hopes that it will give salvation from the zombies. However, this is hypocritical as Sean is doing exactly what the zombies are trying to do which is killing any humans they see so there are no good intentions behind his actions.
  • He tries to sacrifice Jennifer Gorman in front of his cult members to prove his beliefs.
  • Once he spots Frank taking pictures of the scene, he then orders his men to kill Frank without reason, showing how little reason he needs to sacrifice or kill people he comes across.
  • His followers are so indoctrinated that they are willing to resort to suicide bombing with dynamite as a means of trying to kill Frank.
  • When Frank arrives at the movie theater to confront Sean, he has 5 survivors (Ray Mathison, Beth Shrake, Michelle Feltz, Nathan Crabbe, and Cheryl Jones) he intends to kill. He has Cheryl in the side room who was intended to be used for Sean's "personal use." What it was is unknown, leaving it up to the players imagination.
  • Upon noticing Frank, he makes another attempt to kill him by trying to impale him with a sword.
  • If Frank gets captured by the cult, he wakes up half naked inside a sacrificial box. This could just be a gameplay mechanic but it implies the cult could be doing more then just sacrificing survivors.
  • Even though Sean died, his cult remained active and continued trying to kill people, as revealed in Dead Rising 4.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He is too insane to have moral agency as he believes that killing people will somehow achieve him salvation and he is shown praying to a mannequin, mistaking it as a goddess and during his death scene, he begs it to "give him strength", showing he truly has some religious beliefs, making his morality complicated.
  • He fails the Heinous Standards to Albert Contiello, Hunter Thibodeaux and Jo Slade who have all done worse such as having higher kill counts, more brutal methods or unique crimes despite having less resources then Sean.
