His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- Even before he became the Scorpion, he was already a heartless and lowlife serial killer who had a reputation for kidnapping people and then proceeding to torture, and/or kill them. It's also mentioned that he partook in robberies and illegal gambling as a teenager.
- Although he was tortured and forcibly experimented upon by J. Jonah Jameson, not only is it never played for sympathy but he was already evil before that.
- After becoming the supervillain Scorpion, he killed even more people to prove how dangerous and formidable of a foe he'd be towards Spider-Man to show off his new skills and capabilities.
- He tortured Spider-Man to the point of near-death several times and made numerous attempts to kill him, even offering to show him the "inside of his skull".
- He plotted to break out of prison sooner than his expected release date by suing J. Jonah Jameson, for the sake of returning to his criminal lifestyle.
- Despite willingly assisting Doctor Octopus in his crimes, Scorpion showed no loyalty to the man and only saw him as an enabler of his own atrocities.
- While he did berate Rhino for failing Doc Ock, it was only an opportunity for Scorpion to insult his partner rather than coming to the defence of his boss.
- He helped the Sinister Six to gang up on a weakened Spider-Man by stabbing him in the back with his drug-filled tail while they confronted Spider-Man on a rooftop.
- Under Doctor Octopus' orders, he tried to poison New York City's water supply, which placed all the citizens in danger of dying of thirst and having hallucinogenic nightmares.
- Despite knowing about the risks he was taking, he did not care and simply would be fine with seeing people slowly suffer and die for his own sadistic amusement.
- He poisoned Spider-Man with a hallucinogenic drug and then forced him to confront his worst fears by mocking him over his past mistakes just to break him psychologically.
- Assuming he wasn't a hallucination and was actually calling Spider-Man, then Scorpion sadistically taunts him over the condition he's in.
- He tortured and killed a Sable International agent just because he wouldn't give him any supply routes or schedules, showcasing his pettiness.
- He was extremely abusive to Rhino throughout their partnership and has no care for him whatsoever, given he insulted him on many occasions.
- Unlike with Vulture and Electro, neither Rhino nor Scorpion will apologize if they accidentally hit each other during their fight with Spider-Man and will tell them to stay out of their way. This led to Rhino getting into a fight with Scorpion out of anger, which was completely justified given how much of a jerk and bully he was.
- He sadistically told a joke about using Spider-Man's corpse as a blanket once they kill him, which horrified even Rhino.
- He posed as a security guard to trick Miles into unknowingly saving him from drowning, and upon being rescued, he proceeded to poison Miles with his drug-powered tail, leading to the kid hallucinating his family and friends taunting him all while Scorpion showed zero gratitude to Miles for saving him.
- This goes to show that he is incredibly ungrateful, even to people who have just prevented his death.
- He killed some of Kraven the Hunter's guards just to spite him before trying to kill the man himself, leading to Kraven giving Scorpion a taste of his own medicine and killing him cathartically.
- While he was experimented on by J. Jonah Jameson in the past, this does nothing to excuse his actions since he was already evil prior to that.
- Despite having a few comedic moments, such as making a Dumbo reference by bringing up pink elephants while taunting Spider-Man over the phone and his arguments and verbal fights with Rhino being played for laughs to the point of amusing Spider-Man, they merely show how dark and sadistic he is, so he's still taken very seriously in-universe.
- Unlike all the other Sinister Six members, he lacks any redeeming qualities and he only does what he does because he enjoys torturing and killing people. Therefore, he is easily the most despicable villain in the main game as he's the only one without a sympathetic trait. In addition to only caring about money, he is also an absolute jerk to his teammates.
- He has full moral agency due to being aware of his sadism and embraces it, even if he is a bit insane to an extent.
- Although his death at the hands of Kraven is certainly brutal, it's not played for sympathy at all and no-one mourns his passing, not even Peter; not to mention he got exactly what he deserved for everything he has done, just like with Electro and Vulture, as well as Karma for poisoning Miles hours ago.
- Despite not being as heinous as Venom, Doctor Octopus, Electro, Sandman, Mister Negative, Hammerhead, Flame, Norman Osborn, Simon Krieger or Vulture, Scorpion has much less resources than all of them, since he's just a normal man in a suit that has a drug-powered cyborg tail on it.
- By contrast, Venom is an immensely powerful and strong parasitic multi-being who can shapeshift and possess people, Hammerhead is a Maggia don and the head of a criminal organization, Flame is a fire-obsessed cult leader, Norman owns a large business company, Krieger is the CEO of an energy corporation, Electro has numerous electricity powers, Sandman can manipulate his size, create storms and spawn out sand creatures to help him, Vulture has enhanced wings that can reach speeds up to 95 mph, Doctor Octopus is an intelligent criminal mastermind with four mechanical arms and total control over the Sinister Six and Mister Negative is an extremely resourceful criminal mastermind who gains even more supernatural abilities once his negative energy powers are awakened.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He fails the heinous standards to Doctor Octopus, as his worst crime of poisoning the water reservoir of New York was done under his orders. While it's true that Doc Ock has more resources, Scorpion still fails to do something heinous enough on his own to stand out from his boss. Furthermore, despite having lower resources than the majority of villains in the series, he also fails to Screwball, who tried to kill her own fans and planned to sacrifice half of New York's population with even less resources. However, given Scorpion's high kill count and low resources, he doesn't fail the standards too much, so this is a minor prevention.
