My people... Sons and Daughters of Helghan. This much I vow: The history of these days will be written in blood. By crushing the armies of our enemy, by seizing the weapons they thought to turn against us, we were fighting for our very existence. But if there are those who would deny us peace; refuse us our rightful place in the universe, then we will unleash such terrible vengeance that generations yet unborn will cry out in anguish! [...] The enemy may shatter our bodies, but they cannot break our spirit. Even now they advance on our home world, to seize by force what they cannot claim by right. They cannot imagine what awaits them. WE WILL SMITE THE INVADERS FROM OUR SKIES! Though they sweep over our lands like the sands of winter, never again will we bow before them; never again endure their oppression; never again endure their tyranny. We will strike without warning and without mercy, fighting as one hand, one heart, one soul. We will shatter their dreams and haunt their nightmares, drenching our ancestors' graves with their blood. And as our last breath tears at their lungs; as we rise again from the ruins of our cities... they will know: Helghan belongs to the Helghast.
~ Visari's famous speech.

Autarch Scolar Visari is the main antagonist of the Killzone franchise. He serves as the main antagonist of Killzone and Killzone 2, the unseen overarching antagonist of Killzone: Liberation and Killzone: Mercenary and the posthumous overarching antagonist of Killzone 3 and Killzone Shadow Fall.

An immensely cruel, ruthless, violent, and destructive Autarch of the former Helghan Empire, under his charismatic and captivating leadership, Visari brought the Helghan Nation together into one banner to become a significant player on the interplanetary stage.

His tremendous bitterness, vengeance, and dedication to his ideal of a strong and proud Helghan capable of exacting retribution on the United Colonial Nations for their role in the First Extrasolar War's loss make him the epitome of Helghan ultranationalism.

Visari waged war against Vektans, as well as with being responsible for bombing his own city of Pyrrhus. He was eventually murdered by a vengeful Rico Velasquez at the end of the second game, as revenge for Jan Templar's death, during the ISA's attack inside his palace. Despite his demise, Visari's influence casts a long shadow, as it led to Stahl Arms CEO Jorhan Stahl and Helghast Army Admiral Orlock battling for his Autarch position.

He was voiced and portrayed by Brian Cox.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • Crushed any form of dissent towards his own people for speaking out against his authoritarian policies, as well as subjugating them under his own control, where his own policies and values are similar to those of Nazis.
  • Staged a fake assassination attempt in order to garner support for the Helghan Empire.
  • Initiated the Helghast-Vektan war during the start of the Second Extrasolar War, which not only lost countless Vektans in his onslaught, but it also led to the deaths of his own people, mostly including civilians who were dragged by it.
  • Bombed his own capital city of Pyrrhus with the Red Dust they stole from the ISA, killing many of his own people in the process. He used the staged bombing to frame the ISA for it.
  • Visari only sees his own soldiers as disposable expendables, caring little for their safety, just to justify his twisted means to win his war against the Vektans.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • Visari is shown to have a genuine care for his daughter Hera Visari during the beginning cutscene of Killzone 3.
  • Despite being a callous, authoritarian leader who committed numerous atrocities in the name of his own war against the Vektans, there are times where he showed care to his people, such as him evacuating his own people from planets that were invaded by the ISA forces in order to lessen Helghast civilian casualties. Albeit shown in a twisted way, he promises his own people to fight on under the Helghast banner.

Trivia[]

  • Visari is one of the two Killzone Near Pure Evils, along with Alex Grey.
