“ | Thou hast freed me, so now I can punish the world for my long imprisonment! | „ |
~ Sarah Ravencroft announcing her intentions to destroy the world to her descendant Ben. |
Sarah Ravencroft is the titular overarching antagonist of the 1999 animated feature film Scooby-Doo and the Witch's Ghost, the second installment of the Scooby-Doo direct-to-video film series.
She is the alleged Wiccan ancestor of the famous 20th century horror author Ben Ravencroft, who insists that she was a benevolent healer who was unfairly executed due to accusations of being a witch, being this the main touristic attraction of town of Oakhaven. However, it later turns out that Sarah was actually a witch and that Ben longed to find her spellbook to bring her back and rule the world together, though Sarah has different plans than those of her descendant.
She was voiced by Tress MacNeille, who also voiced Hama in Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Her Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- She used unholy magic to torture, hurt and/or kill people while posing as a benevolent Wiccan healer in her hometown of Oakhaven, Massachusetts to not raise suspicions.
- She continued using her dark magic to continue with her misdeeds following her well-deserved execution until genuine Wiccan healers imprisoned her within her own spellbook to stop her threat.
- She planned to destroy the world out of revenge for the Wiccans imprisoning her within her own spellbook, even though they are long dead by this point.
- She locked Ben inside a bubble when he tried to imprison her back into her spellbook to remedy his mistake.
- She created pumpkin monsters and enlarged a turkey to kill the Mystery Gang.
- She tried to kill Thorn and Velma Dinkley with her own hands when Velma inisted Thorn perform the spell to lock Sarah again due to her Wiccan heritage.
- She dragged Ben as she is sucked back into her spellbook out of spite while making it seem like she doesn't want to be alone, which later either sentenced them to eternal imprisonment or killed them when the spell book was accidentally burned by a burning branch.
What Prevents Her from Being Pure Evil?[]
- Her plan is not explicit enough for PE, as while she plans to destroy the world, it ends up being a generic "cover the world in darkness" plot that is very light about death, which is in contrast with other villains like Jacques, who is an explicit serial killer, and the Evil Entity, who is also an omnicidal maniac but explicitly plans to kill people.
