You thought you and your pitiful X-Men could stop me? Goodbye, old friend. Let the ice be your tombstone: "Here lies Wolverine, alone and defeated!" Ha-ha!
~ Sabretooth after throwing Wolverine off a cliff into freezing water.
What do you say, boy? Come to papa.
~ Sabretooth upon his son Graydon being dropped off at his doorstep.

Graydon Creed Sr., better known as Sabretooth, is a recurring antagonist in X-Men: The Animated Series.

He is a mutant supervillain, being a former member of Team X and one of Wolverine's archenemies alongside Omega Red. Sabretooth had a son with Mystique, named Graydon Creed Jr..

He was voiced by the late Don Francks.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • His rivalry with Wolverine began when he sealed Silver Fox and Maverick in a room with Omega Red during a mission.
  • While on a mission from Magneto to trash the X-Mansion, he tries to kill the 15-year-old Jubilee after baiting her into freeing him from his restraint chair. He also admits that he only works with Magneto to get to Wolverine.
  • He kidnaps 12 fisherman villagers after destroying their village, threatening to kill them all with bombs on an ice bridge unless Wolverine fights him to the death. Even when Wolverine tries to make peace between them, Sabretooth fights him anyway.
  • While he saved Wolverine from being killed by a robot, it was only because he mistook the robot for his abusive father and wanted to kill him, not out of concern for Wolverine's safety. And even then, Sabretooth has no problem trying to kill his archenemy later on.
  • It's implied that he abused his son Graydon, judging from how he frantically shoots when the X-Men show him his father's hologram (although it could also be because Graydon doesn't want anyone to find out he is a son of a mutant) and then spends a year "drooling in his tin cup". It's also implied that he ends up killing him in his final episode, although to be fair he definitely deserves it after everything he did.
  • He lacks any altruistic qualities, and is very sadistic. Sabretooth is a borderline sociopath who's played 100% seriously.
  • He calls Graydon "the famous slayer of mutants" when the Friends of Humanity's new leaders drop him off at his doorstep, which could imply that even he has standards against racism. However, this was likely more of a taunt than anything else since Sabretooth isn't above killing fellow mutants Wolverine and Jubilee for petty reasons.
  • He's shown suffering PTSD flashbacks to when his father beat him as a child, crying and whimpering "I'll be good". However, this doesn't make him tragic in the grand scheme of things because Sabretooth himself was implied to be a horrible parent towards Graydon Creed thus subvertting that tradgity. Even excluding that, Sabretooth is way too much of an unthinking animal to really be sympathized with.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He doesn't meet the series-wide Heinous Standards compared to those who committed omnicide and genocide, sometimes with arguably less resources than himself (such as Omega Red or his own son). Unlike Mr. Sinister, nothing really indicates that Sabretooth knew of Apocalypse's plan to destroy and remake the timestream.

Trivia[]

  • While Sabretooth is currently Near Pure Evil, there's a chance that this may change if he returns in X-Men '97, the X-Men: The Animated Series revival released in Disney+.
