~ Ryoba Aishi to the Journalist |
Ryoba Aishi is the overarching protagonist of the unfinished American stealth action video game Yandere Simulator, and the main protagonist of its 1980s mode. She is the mother of Ayano Aishi, who manipulated her into being just like her, making her responsible for the events of the story.
She was voiced by Lizzy Hofe in "A Childhood Lesson" and by Michaela Laws in the game, with the latter also having voiced Ryoba's daughter Ayano. Both also voiced many other Yandere Simulator characters.
Her Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- She stalks other students and learns their information that she wrote in her notebooks, just to get advantage of any situation.
- She murdered six teenage girls in Akademi who tried to date Jokichi, with the first victim haunting the school.
- She sabotaged Kyaguya's and Jokichi's interactions, each time she was the main reason their whole plans were ruined during the week and after Kyaguya was rejected, she simply smiling at her crying.
- She framed Teiko by putting alcohol, cigarettes, condoms, and a stolen ring in her bag along with answer sheets under Teiko's desk while reporting her each day, which ended up getting the innocent Teiko expelled.
- She took Komako's dairy and used her secrets as a way to get her bullied by the school's population, resulting Komako to change schools as she cannot take it anymore.
- She hypocritically mocks Chigusa's fans for their obsessive behavior that involves tracking Chigusa, while being no better than them.
- While she did help Sonoko, it was out of usefulness she could come up with and to make her stay away from Jokichi as much as possible.
- When the journalist tries to arrest her, she manages to manipulate the entire court to deem her innocent and unnecessarily ruin the Journalist's reputation with bunch of lies, this also ruined his life for trying to be a hero.
- She kidnapped Jokichi and threatened him into submission, after he calls her out for her actions and how this is not the right reason to get lover, she simply dismissed him and pretended to be victim who was forced into "self-defense", before she started yelling at him after he tries to get some sense in her head.
- Although she was partially right, she still lied about self-Defense as an excuse, especially when she admitted she would kill all her rivals because it's easier and much more "fun" to her. This also proves she has moral agency even with condition that makes her obsessed with her soulmate, as it never directly makes her outright evil.
- She threatened Journalist that she'd murder him and make his death look like a suicide if he attempts to expose her again.
- After getting Ayano, she proudly tought her how to murder and get away with it, making her responsible for majority of bad actions if caused by Ayano.
- Her actions caused Kocho Shuyona to feel guilty and responsible for the deaths of those students, which caused him to be an aggressive and paranoid old man.
- Although she has a tragedy like Ayano, Ryoba eventually subverts it as she becomes just like Ayano’s grandmother and the narrative shows no sympathy towards her. It doesn't help that Ryoba's influence on other characters makes them more sympathetic.
- It's implied that her actions had the Saikou family involved in her case, as evidenced in Megami being on Ayano's tail, another thing that strengthen it was Kocho's quote after tasing Ayano where he said "The deals off."
- It's highly possible that her actions have something to do with Info-chan, if that's true it can explain why Info-chan has messed up her life all because Ryoba sought unnecessary revenge against the Journalist.
What Prevents Her from Being Pure Evil?[]
- Despite her condition, Ryoba has shown genuine care for some of her family:
- She genuinely cares for her daughter Ayano Aishi and sends her postcards while chasing down The Journalist. While she takes advantage of her feeling like an empty shell by corrupting her mind with violence and cruelty, it is only because she wishes for her daughter to finally feel the happiness like others could do, even giving her hope she will find her special one like she did.
- She cares for her father as shown in the tapes when Ryoba actually felt pity for him growing up due to him completely broken by her mother, Dozuki Aishi, and vowed not to break Jokichi showing she has some limits.
- She's grateful to her grandmother, Kataba Aishi, for raising her when her mother was too lazy to step up. Ryoba's respect for her grandmother resulted in her helping look after her younger sister, to ease the burden on the elderly woman.
Trivia[]
- As Yandere Simulator is being developed her NPE status may or may not be challenged depending on how her story goes in the completed game.
