Ruby is a major antagonist in Season 3 and the secondary antagonist of Season 4 in Supernatural.
She is a black-eyed demon who acts as an ally towards Sam Winchester, claiming to be there to help him and his brother Dean stop Lilith. However, it was eventually revealed that she was secretly working for Lilith and got Sam addicted to demon blood to further a plan to free Lucifer from Hell.
She was portrayed by Katie Cassidy in Season 3 and by Genevieve Cortese in Season 4.

What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- Misleads Sam into thinking she can get Dean out of the deal made that dammed him to Hell.
- Tried to get Sam and Dean to sacrifice a virgin to stop Lilith from killing the people in a police building.
- Convinces Sam to kill a conscious demon vessal and drink her blood.
- She gets Sam addicted to demon blood.
- Manipulates Sam into killing Lillith, knowing it will release Lucifer onto the world, making her responsible for all the atrocities he commits afterwards.
- Ruby's acts also create trust issues with Sam & Dean, as even after her death, Sam choosing Ruby over Dean has been an event mentioned many times.
What Prevents Her from Being Pure Evil?[]
- She proved herself to be both loyal to Lilith and Lucifer, even quite committed to her cause. She risked (and eventually lost) her life by allying with doubtful hunters who were often willing to kill her, made herself an outcast to be hunted by her own kind, confronted both angels and demons many times despite her fears, and even allowed herself to be captured and tortured by Alastair in Heaven and Hell for Sam's plan.
- Despite manipulating him, it's greatly implied that she had at least some care for Sam, as she comforted him when he realized he had unwittingly freed Lucifer and promised him that Lucifer would greatly reward him for what he did. When Castiel meets her again in the Empty, she remarks that she still is fond of Sam even though he helped kill her.
- Her condition in the Empty is treated with sympathy, as like all other dead demons and angels she is tortured endlessly by the Shadow, forced to relive her worst regrets for all eternity, even Castiel agrees to try and help her in exchange for giving him the location of the Occultum.
