“ | This lawyer thinks there's a whole box of these Polaroids out there somewhere. I don't wanna know if that's true. I don't wanna know why you would take the goddamn pictures in the first place. I just don't wanna hear anymore about it. Are we understood? | „ |

“ | Well, what about me? Wasn't I there for you, when you came to me last summer? Didn't we figure that out together? I'd be strong for your family, your mom, little May. Zach, do you think you can be there for your team, for me, now? | „ |

Coach Rick Wlodimierz is the overarching antagonist of the 2017 Netflix series 13 Reasons Why, based on the 2007 novel of the same name by Jay Asher.
He was a student, later baseball coach at Liberty High School, and the founder of the Clubhouse who primarily carried the rape culture among his players such as Bryce Walker and Monty de la Cruz, who kick-started the events of the show that led Hannah Baker to commit suicide.
Although he is not involved in the Baker's Dozen, since Hannah didn't acknowledge his and his actions' existence, he still played a vital role by making Bryce one of Hannah's fatal subjects, and indirectly subjecting Tyler Down to be brutally raped by Monty, followed by attempting a high school massacre.
He was portrayed by Ben Lawson.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- As a student, he started a rape club known as The Clubhouse, where like-minded individuals of the rape culture invite female students in order to intoxicate and sexually assault them. This infamous club became prevalent across Liberty High, as many baseball players of his would later hold responsible for, and even himself as an implied rapist.
- He informed one of his players, Bryce Walker, to carry on the rape culture along with his friends with the information about The Clubhouse. This initiated the events of the show, where he would later rape Jessica Davis and Hannah Baker (who committed suicide later on), along with other unknown female victims.
- He has shown to be well aware of the chaos ensuing at Liberty High, and that many of his players became rapists upon his encouragement. For example, he protected Bryce after knowing his actions have caused Hannah's death to the point of bringing his innocence up to counselor Kevin Porter that everyone's witch-hunting him.
- Another example, depicted in the first quote, was him trying to protect himself from acknowledging the Polaroids Bryce took in the Clubhouse, showing that he's attempting to save his own skin and avoid his involvement with Bryce as a rapist. Stating he doesn't want to know meant he's trying to be uninvolved, or the fact he never expected Bryce to take the Polaroids and was trying to save the rape culture by not speaking about it. This action showed his cowardice.
- He attempted to manipulate Zach Dempsey back into the team by using the latter's father, George Dempsey, as an excuse, which triggered Zach into later rightfully calling him out for not stopping the culture years ago.
- He became a Karma Houdini; he never got any punishment or karma after his last appearance in "The Box of Polaroids". Even though he was speculated to have resigned or been dismissed from Liberty High, and if true, he is still insufficiently punished for his crimes since he may later commit these same acts upon another high school.
- His actions compared to Bryce has made him one of the worst characters of the show, who was already worse than the main antagonist due to his influence over him, and that he continued this culture for decades. While Tyler Down tried to shoot up the entire school, Rick still stands out when compared to him due to starting a full-on rape club.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- Despite having passed the Heinous Standards of the show as he affected many people, including Bryce Walker, he completely suffered from offscreen villainy and essences of Fridge Horror as his crimes as a student of starting a rape club, including all the rapes that took place, and implied rape were never shown.
