You know, I know I shouldn't say this, but out of all of my players, you were always my favorite.
~ Masters reminding Prince of his abuse.

Ray Masters is the main antagonist of the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode "Personal Fouls". He is a youth basketball coach who sexually abuses the boys he coaches.

He was portrayed by Dan Lauria.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He abuses his position as a well-known and renowned basketball coach to play on his young players who he will molest and rape. Over the years, he has sexually abused countless young boys, starting when they are young and stopping after he loses interest in them. He paid many off to remain quiet.
  • His favorite victim was Prince Miller, who got the worst of his abuse. From the age of 10 to 15, Ray repeatedly raped and sexually abused him, leaving him with deep lasting trauma.
  • Sexually abused and molested Stevie Harris, destroying his life. He later gave him money to keep quiet and stopped when the statute of limitations expired. Due to his actions, Stevie became a broken drug addict.
  • He led another one of his abuse victims to follow in his footsteps as a child molester.
  • He sexually abused Richie Ramos, shattering him and leaving him traumatized. Two days before Richie was going to testify against him, he hanged himself, leaving his mother devastated.
  • When questioned by Benson, he becomes angry and hostile and had blamed Stevie for his own circumstances, accusing Stevie of wanting someone to blame for his own misfortune.
  • When Stevie goes to Prince, wanting him to admit what he went through, it leads to a fight between them. Prince's manager, Supreme kills Stevie by overdosing him on heroin so that he can keep him quiet, not wanting him to reveal the abuse for the fear of their image, making Ray indirectly responsible for Stevie's murder.
  • When Prince watches him coaching a team of students, Ray acts creepy towards Prince, saying he is proud of him, and taking his hand against his wishes, reminding him of the abuse he inflicted.
  • He touches Devon, his star player, who he is lusting after in front of Prince, Devon being clearly uncomfortable.
  • He never shows any remorse for his actions or any of the damage that he had done.
  • When Prince reveals what had been done to him, Devon watches it on television and breaks down crying to his mother, revealing that he was also sexually abused by Ray.

What Prevents Him From Being Pure Evil?[]

  • While we know he has abused countless boys over the years, his full number of victims is not revealed, causing him to suffer from Fridge Horror, and thus fail the absurd heinous standards of the franchise to other child predators.
