~ Salazar before his final boss fight and mutating |
Ramón Salazar is a major antagonist in the 2023 remake of Resident Evil 4.
He is the 8th castellan to the Salazar family who have contained the Las Plagas parasites for centuries, but after Osmund Saddler convinced him that he should release the parasite to atone for his ancestors' "sins" Ramón does that, and it then causes all the villagers and castle guards and the islanders to get infected with the parasite, causing the events of the game.
He was voiced by Marcio Moreno.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- Even before the Plaga came into the picture, he was a horrible boss to his staff as one of his maids called him "Pulgarcito" and he poured acid over her face as punishment, which was excessively brutal.
- He helped Osmund Saddler release the Plagas parasites, buried underneath the castle, which his family has been protecting for generations to "atone" for Salazar's crimes.
- Along with Saddler, he hired miners to dig up the Plagas parasites who then inhaled the plaga spores and turned into mutated humans under the control of the parasites and Saddler himself.
- Helped Saddler infect everyone in Valdelobos as well as Salazar family's castle staff, turning them all Ganados with few exception; Bitores Méndez, a housekeeper who became Pesanta, and Isidro Uriarte Talavera. He even endorsed Isidro Uriarte Talavera's plaga experiments which gave rise to Novistadors and Garradors as well as Pesanta's painful transformation.
- Assisted Saddler with his plan on releasing the Plaga parasites on the world, starting with kidnapping Ashley Graham, the daughter of the President of the United States, who would be infected with a Plaga parasite thus allowing Saddler to control her as much as converting her to Los Iluminados' faith and subsequenly infect everyone in the US and then the rest of the world.
- Upon meeting Ashley and Leon for the first time and knowing that both are infected thus potentially making Saddler's plans much easier, he tries to persuade Leon to giving Ashley over to Salazar and join the cult. Upon Leon's refusal, he orders his subordinates to take Ashley themselves and kill Leon.
- Orders his minions to dispose Leon while prioritizing Ashley's capture at the same time, indifferent to implication of losing too many of them. In the end, onlu Isidro Uriarte Talavera aka. Verdugo who had much success.
- Forces Leon to watch Ashley undergo the ritual where he (Salazar) has his cultists force her to drink a black liquid which hasten her Plaga's development in his throne room.
- Sending Leon plummeting into his death via. trap door and sending Isidro Uriarte Talavera aka. Verdugo to kill him should he survived.
- Has Jack Krauser bring Ashley to the Island before confronting Leon himself.
- Upon being humiliated by having his speech interrupted by Leon shooting him multiple times, he merges with Queen Plaga off-screen to engage him in a heated duel to the death.
- Unlike in his original version, he is taken more seriously due to not as immature and more threatening thus having too few comedic moments to detract from his heinousness.
- Despite had since follower the faith of Los Iluminados, his desire to atone his ancestors "sins" in which they locked away and safeguard the Plagas for generations being more to spite them rather than assisting Saddler who had more noble intentions by contrast.
- He has some insecurities as shown in his rants against Leon during the final battle which indicated that he had an abusive father. However, it isn't played for sympathy nor expanded upon.
- Although the original and reboot continuities of Resident Evil both share a high Heinous Standard, Salazar stands out for releasing the Plaga parasites thus allowing Saddler to infect an entire village before doing the same to the rest of the world, potentially killing billions and stripping the rest of their free will in process.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He is extremely loyal towards Osmund Saddler as seen in one of his notes and in his dying words he screams for Saddler to help him.
