Your city's benefactor, Bruce Wayne, has provided me a weapon of limitless power. In his arrogance, Wayne thought he could bring light to the world like a god. Gotham is now the head of a beast that will bring darkness to whatever they touch and in turn deliver power to me. Power to drain country's of their wealth, or crush them with their warheads, turning their citizens into slaves, all through a system already in place, the internet. Who is the god now? Gotham is gone, there is nothing left to fight for. Join me, as I cleanse this city and return it to greatness.
~ Ra's al Ghul's speech to Batman and offering him to join his cause
Congratulations. I often wondered what it felt like to lose.
~ Ra's congratulating Batman for defeating him and thwarting his scheme.

Ra's al Ghul is one of the main antagonists of the short-lived 2013 CGI-animated superhero series, Beware the Batman, serving as the main antagonist of the first half of the season.

He is the leader of the League of Assassins and Lady Shiva's master. Ra's quickly becomes one of Batman's most dangerous enemies to date, effortlessly bringing Gotham City to its knees while providing Batman his first major defeat.

He was portrayed by the late Lance Reddick.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • Unlike most versions of Ra's, this version lacks any sympathetically moments.
  • Attempts to conquer the world to force humanity to be his slaves.
  • Has Cypher brainwash Dr. Jason Burr to build the Ion Cortex, and as seen with one of Cypher's victims, it has potential to be damaging to the mind and leave the victims scrambling messes.
  • His signature weapon is the Soultaker's Sword, which as the name suggests, drains people of their souls and turns them into Empty Shells where their souls will be inside the sword tortured for eternity, and their bodies will be gruesomely disfigured. Ra's used the Sword to drain the souls and kill 100s of his enemies.
  • Threatens Agent Edogawa Yamashiro's family, including his at that time infant daughter, to force him into selling out and betraying his best friend, Agent Alfred Pennyworth, and drain his soul, which caused Edogawa to sacrifice himself to save Alfred.
  • Has Lady Shiva drain Dr. Burr's soul when he was freed from Ra's control.
  • Uses the Ion Cortex to shut down all power in Gotham and plunge it into darkness to force the leaders to surrender to him otherwise he will keep Gotham in darkness and have the citizens tear the entire city apart through dramatical increases in crimes and massive riots.
  • When the Police Commissioner stands up to him and vows to never surrender his police force to him, Ra'shas him murdered in cold-blood and forces the other's to hear his screams while he reacts to it with dry wit.
  • Manipulates Edogawa's daughter, Tatsu, into draining Alfred's soul by revealing the truth of her father's death while concealing the important parts of his death, out of revenge against Alfred for placing him in his coma.
  • Using the Ion Cortex, Ra's states upon having annihilated Gotham or had it surrender to his rule, tries to use it to plunge other major cities in the world into darkness and cause death and destruction, draining entire countries of resources, turning their warheads against the coutnry and turning heir citizens into his slaves.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • Ultimately, is a well-intentioned extremist who is genuine in his desire to purge the world of corruption and that he believes his tyrannical rule over humanity is for the best out of a belief that without his control, the human race is too chaotic, corrupt and destructive and will collapse. However, this isn't played for any sympathy and Ra's himself is more despotic, willing to ally with criminals and promise to give them a portion of Gotham to control despite his genuine belief in his cause, making it a weak prevention.
  • Has some genuine respect towards Batman, calling him a worthy adversary of his skill he has never seen since millenia and advices him he is too skilled to rely on gadgetry, this is all as he utterly dominates Batman in a fight and defeats him easily, and was upset when Batman rejected his offer to join his cause, and congratulates Batman for thwarting his scheme and teaching him what it felt to lose, making it an actual prevention unlike with the case of Anarky, whose respect for Batman was more out of egotism.
  • Ultimately, while very cold-blooded, Ra's has some minor but still genuine moments of genuine affability, complimenting Batman multiple times for being a worthy opponent who didn't disappoint and a warrior of skill he never saw in millenia even after Ra's dominated him constantly throughout their big fight, or complimenting Alfred for having come the closest to discovering him much more to the predecessors and not be upset of his failure.
