~ Quintessa explaining her plan to Optimus while brainwashing him |
Quintessa is the main antagonist of the 2017 film Transformers: The Last Knight, the fifth and final installment of the original continuity of the Transformers film series.
She is an alien sorceress who claims to be the creator of the Cybertronian race, proclaiming herself as the Prime of Life. Revealing herself to be the creator of Optimus Prime, Quintessa planned to use him to restore Cybertron by destroying the Earth, believing it to be Cybertron's greatest enemy, Unicron.
She was portrayed by Gemma Chan.
Her Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- More than a millennia before the present day, she tries to destroy Unicron/Earth over a hunch that it will be dangerous, disregarding everyone who lived on the planet until her Knights rebelled against her and stole her staff.
- When Galvatron goes to her she takes him under her wing and makes him back into Megatron.
- When Optimus Prime sends a message after Lockdown’s death saying he is coming to find his creators, she uses it to her advantage. She probably lies about her being his creator when he arrives back in Cybertron and has her servant Infenocus briefly torture and immobilize him.
- Brainwashes Optimus to her will and makes her get a staff which is the only way to bring back life on Cybertron.
- Orders Megatron to steal the staff from Optimus when he couldn’t.
- Destroys the moon as well as the Ark ship from the third movie.
- When arriving on Earth with Cybertron she starts to mend the planet together by draining Earth’s geothermal energy and also having parts scrape away on earth’s surface that causes some destruction on places around the world.
- Orders Megatron to kill Viviane Wembly, the only human who can control the staff, when she gets too close to it.
- Tries to kill Optimus Prime when he breaks free of her trance.
- Fakes her death and disguises herself as a human while still trying to stop Unicron.
What Prevents Her from Being Pure Evil?[]
- She’s a well-intentioned extremist who genuinely wanted the war on Cybertron to end and remove the threat of Unicron and bring life back to Transformers so that the planet may thrive once again and lacks any real selfish motivations unlike other villains such as Megatron, at least as far as “The Last Knight” demonstrates. Then again, if the Bayverse Saga receives a proper conclusion through either a sixth film or comic sequel to “TLK”, she might be revealed to be way worse than originally thought.
- She overall fails to Megatron, (Despite being his boss) who waged the war that ravaged Cybertron and flood the universe with Decepticons, the Fallen who is responsible for every Decepticon atrocity that happens within the franchise as the secret founder of the Decepticons and Megatron's corrupter while seeking to use the planet destroying Star Harvester to conquer the universe, Sentinel Prime who organizes the bloodiest Decepticon invasion of Earth that destroyed most of Chicago and attempts to have all humans that survive his apocalyptic process of teleporting Cybertron to Earth to be slaves he tortures and abuse to rebuild Cybertron as slave labor to the point they would drop dead, with all 3 having attempted to destroy the Earth. Quintessa also has this, but while the amount of destruction she causes could push her to have the highest kill count in the series, this relies on Fridge Horror as even though there is a line saying "Cybertron's starting to come in, literally scraping away cities, millions will die", there was no confirmed casualties or showcase on people's lives being endangered present to push it out of standard supervillain destruction compared to the Chicago invasion in which Decepticons slaughtering countless innocent civilians onscreen, and could've passed have casualties been confirmed.
Trivia[]
- So far, Quintessa has the distinction of being the sole Transformers Near Pure Evil to be female or to have feminine traits.
- It has been theorized that she was responsible for Sentinel Prime betraying the autobots, having a similar motive. If proven true, it would make her even worse.
