“ | Why fight for them exactly? Do you seriously believe that by initially aiding these restless hunters, you're doing the right thing? You're simply just killing the demons, and by your words; "no one deserves to die." Oh, how you flipped over those tables the moment you aided them, how your own promise was broken. How you immediately disregarded those qualms. There was not a single good piece in you after all! (...) Oh, be off with it already! I've heard the same excuse from your mouth half the time, and it's really just a pointless excuse after all! The Twelve Kizuki is much nicer than what the Demon Slayers have in store! You can break your word any time here, befitting for your hypocricy! Why not give in, Reisu? Let me give you my blood. You'll be one of the most powerful demons in existence then. (...) Fine then, if you really persist on helping those humans, then I guess I'll have to rid of you as well! This is a farewell to the family reigon, sis. | „ |
~ Purazuma trying to manipulate his sister into joining the Twelve Kizuki, but then attempts to kill the latter once she put down the offer. |
Purazuma is the titular (and a major) antagonist of SleepingGuy's 2021 fanverse Demon Slayer: Purazuma Tōchi. He was a member of the Twelve Demon Moons, holding the position of Upper Moon Three after Akaza failed to submit to Muzan, thus making him one of the most powerful Upper Moon demons alongside Kokushibou and Douma.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- Upon seeing Douma's presence, Purazuma immediately begged Douma to turn him into a demon.
- When he was first introduced during the Red Light District arc, he insulted both Gyokko and Hantengu, calling the former a disgusting mannequin and calling the latter a cowardly old man, befitting of Hantengu.
- While he did flinch alongside Hantengu after seeing Akaza obliterate Douma's head, he still took a sadistic liking towards seeing Douma's head obliterated, thus making his cowardliness minimized for the meantime.
- During the Swordsmith Village arc, he committed full-blown genocide on the Swordsmith village, killing all the villagers that resided there. This would later lead up to the Tanjiro Kamado & Muichiro Tokito vs Purazuma battle.
- After Tanjiro approached Purazuma, he began to physically wound Tanjiro during their confrontation (to the point that he was absent for seven episodes straight) and while he was successful in beating Tanjiro to a pulp, he failed to fight off Muichiro, who pierced off both his arms, causing the Plasma Blood Demon to flee in fear of dying. Unfortunately for the Demon Slayers, Purazuma regrew his obliterated arms.
- When his adoptive sister, Reisu (who was a member of the Demon Slayer corps), refused his offer of joining the Twelve Kizuki, Purazuma retaliated by using Growth to nearly suffocate her. Had Tanjiro not come back, he would have surely killed her. And when Tanjiro stopped her suffocating, he fled in both fear and anger upon seeing her paralyzed.
- Shockingly, Reisu requested Tanjiro if he could kill her since she was unable to move, to which Tanjiro regretfully did. This would later become an impactful life on the Demon Slayer corps for three months (0.25 of a year chronologically), as they had to regretfully exile Tanjiro for killing Reisu under her orders.
- During the Final Battle arc (in the Infinity Castle arc), Purazuma orchestrated the Demon Slayer corps genocide, sparking the idea in Muzan and Douma's eyes.
- Gave off one last "fuck you all" sign by mortally wounding Tanjiro before using Transform to revive him and transferring his soul into Tanjiro's, corrupting him with ease.
- All his acts as Purazuma Tanjiro:
- Wiping out all the Demon Slayers before confronting Reisu once more.
- Wounded Reisu heavily, to the point that she showed visible fright, something that the original Purazuma wasn't able to do.
- After successfully plunging Tanjiro's blade into Reisu's forehead, Purazuma ate Tanjiro from the inside, killing both of them in the process.
- In the afterlife, Purazuma mocked his adoptive family, making a crude remark about Reisu's death, showing that he truly doesn't care for his sister, nor his family for that matter.
- Holds no care towards his fellow Twelve Kizuki members, often ridiculing or poking fun at them for his sadistic amusement.
- Even if he did help out Muzan and Douma during the Final Battle arc, he still stated that it would be for his benefit of survival & joy.
- While he was taken in as a child by his adoptive family (who killed his original family), he instantly dropped the ball on it by begging Douma to turn him into a demon.
- In the fanbook, he frightened the likes of Gyokko and Hantengu, while also unnerving Muzan and unsettling Douma, who is often regarded as one of the most unsettling Demon Moons in the Twelve Kizuki tribe.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- While Purazuma has zero redemptive qualities (excluding the fanbook's one redeeming quality) and has surpassed the baseline and general standards, he still fails the Heinous Standards, being overshadowed by both Muzan and Douma, who were known for commencing horrific tragedies, and even Muzan, who's Pure Evil, had fewer resources than Purazuma in the actual story, and Douma even crudely remarked about Shinobu coming to hell with him, as it was because of him that Shinobu's life was a living hell, yet the two manage to stand out in the Purazuma Tōchi storyline because they had fewer resources than him. However, while he wasn't half as bad as Muzan and Douma, he still crossed the Moral Event Horizon more times than they did.
- While not sympathetically, he wanted to be perfect for his adoptive family.
Trivia[]
- He is one of three Near Pure Evil villains in Kimetsu no Yaiba, alongside Hantengu and Douma. Non-canonically, he would also become the first Kimetsu no Yaiba fanverse Near Pure Evil.
- Purazuma has many similarities to Kaigaku in many ways:
- Both were stated to be insecure.
- Both are considered to be cowards.
- Both bullied someone they knew in the past. (e.g. Kaigaku bullied Zenitsu while Purazuma bullied Reisu)
