Kasef, also known as Prince Kasef, is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Claudia) of Book Three: Sun and a minor character in Book Five: Ocean of Netflix's 2018 animated fantasy series The Dragon Prince.
He was the prince of the kingdom of Neolandia, who took over the kingdom after his father Ahling was gravely injured by Moonshadow assassins that were used by Lord Viren to force the Human Kingdoms to go to war onto Xadia. Because of this, Kasef decided to go to war against Xadia to get revenge on them for "attempting" to kill his father.
He was voiced by Vincent Tong.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close To Pure Evil?[]
- He tried to get all the Human Kingdoms to wage war on Xadia and wipe out elves as revenge for one of them seemingly nearly assassinating his father, having convinced the kingdoms of Evenere and Del Bar before going to Katolis. This shows that even before meeting Viren, Kasef was already planning to wage war on Xadia.
- When Ezran refused to aid him in his attempt to prepare to wage war on Xadia, Kasef mocked him, saying he failed as a king and as a son, something which hurt Ezran as he had just found out he had lost his father a few weeks prior. He then got mad at Corvus when the latter defended Ezran.
- When Ezran revealed to him that Azymondias was alive and that Callum and Rayla were trying to bring him back to his mother as they spoke, Kasef mocked Ezran, saying that he believed in fairy tales, before coldly leaving.
- He threatened to wage war on Katolis to force Ezran into aiding him in his goal, something which Opeli noted would have killed tens of thousands, forcing Ezran to abdicate and allowing Viren to take over, leading him to wage war on Xadia.
- He was the only member of Viren's army to allow himself to be turned into a Sunfire monster willingly in order to obtain more power. In spite of this turning him into a monster incapable of speaking, he is still shown to have some moral agency as he desobeys Viren's commands unlike the other soldiers and is shown smiling as he prepared to kill Callum.
- He was the first to attack against Janai's army during the battle of the Storm Spire, causing an opening in their defense and killing several soldiers.
- He threw Amaya at Janai, injuring the former.
- He got into a fight with Janai in the middle of the battle of the Storm Spire, even showing sadism at headbutting her.
- He attacked Callum and prepared to kill him while sadistically grinning, before being stopped by Aanya who finished him off.
- In spite of the high heinous standards of the series, Kasef stands out due to his important role in the waging of war against Xadia and his willingness to wage war against Katolis for going against his goals.
- While he wants to get revenge for his father's near-death, Kasef's motivations aren't played for sympathy nor make him tragic, as he fights for a selfish desire for revenge and refuses to change his ways even when presented with an idea of peace. Posthumously, Callum is shown to have no sympathy for Kasef, something which he did to Viren, and according to the Tales of Xadia official book, his father, while saddened by the death of his son, understands why he had to be stopped and sees his actions as monstrous.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Evil?[]
- Even if it doesn't justify his actions, Kasef still greatly cares for his father, wanting to get revenge on the elves and wage war on Xadia after his father was greatly injured by an elven assassin.
Trivia[]
- Kasef is one of the two princes in the current events of The Dragon Prince to be Near Pure Evil, alongside Karim of the Sunfire Elves, although the latter lost his status by Janai. Reflectively, they both appear in different story arcs and hold prejudices against elves and humans respectively for causing tragedies in their lives.
