Preston Northwest is a supporting antagonist in Disney's Gravity Falls franchise.
He is Pacifica Northwest's father who is responsible for turning her into the bully she is, and is also the descendant of Nathaniel Northwest.
He was voiced by Chris Parnell in his first appearance, and Nathan Fillion for the rest of the series.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close To Being Pure Evil?[]
- Much like all of the previous members of the Northwest family, he is a deceitful cheater who is willing to do anything just to get his way and uphold his high class reputation.
- He psychologically and mentally abused Pacifica and molded her into the bully she used to be to the point that whenever he rang a small bell he has, she responded to a command and stopped any objections she had.
- Even after Dipper told Pacifica and her family that Nathaniel Northwest didn't found the town, he still kept up the faƧade to protect the reputation of his family.
- When the curse from the Lumberjack Ghost came true, he told Pacifica to manipulate Dipper into getting rid of the ghost instead of just letting the common folk in.
- Once the curse begun to spread throughout the mansion, he cowardly hid away in his bunker instead of just opening the door just to uphold his reputation regardless, letting dozens of people painfully get turned into wood.
- When Pacifica tried to break the curse after the Lumberjack Ghost threatened to burn the mansion, Preston told her to go inside the panic room instead, even though this would have caused dozens of people to burn to death, and also casually whispered loudly to Pacifica that if they ran out of food before the ghost leaves, they would eat the butler.
- Thisisnotawebsitedotcom later reveals that he grounded Pacifica after the events of the episode despite the fact that she saved everyone's lives.
- When Bill Cipher entered the real world and proclaimed himself to be the new ruler, Preston accepted it and tried to join him by offering to be one of his horsemen of the apocalypse, to which Bill responded with by deforming Preston's face.
- While he did tell Pacifica to help save the world from Bill and was relieved when Bill was defeated, it's left too ambiguous if he genuinely wanted to save Gravity Falls or only himself or get revenge on Bill for what he did to him.
- Although he seems affable with his rich friends and gave the mayor a butler primate, it is done out of pragmatism to look good in front of them and he had no problem letting them die at the hands of the ghost.
- Although he has plenty of comedic moments to the audience, his actions are still taken seriously in the show.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Evil?[]
- He cares about Pacifica despite abusing her, being happy to see her when she freed him from Bill's throne, and is implied to have even wanted to hug her but was pushed aside by Sheriff Blubs.
Trivia[]
- Ironically, his daughter is Near Pure Good, the exact opposite of him.
- He is the only Gravity Falls NPE to have a morality-based prevention.
- He used to be IH due to being too comedic, however it was decided that his actions didnāt detract from his heinousness at all.
