His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- Even though he was horrified when King K. Rool caused the island to start sinking by reading Bluebeard Baboon's letter in "The Curse of Kongo Bongo", he still tries to stop Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong from undoing it.
- It should be noted that he later tried to indirectly have Kongo Bongo blown up, meaning if he didn't outright shed this possible redeeming quality, he was only concerned for his own sake, considering he tried to stop the curse from being undone anyway.
- In "Speak No Evil, Dude", he is responsible for spreading the Kongo Bongo Gone Wrongo disease, which affects and nearly kills Diddy Kong, King K. Rool and Krusha, the former he directly infected.
- It doesn't help that the virus also has devastating side effects, such as making the victim's heads start popping if the disease isn't treated for some time. It is also possible that the deaths would've been extremely gruesome (especially for a show aimed at kids), which would've given Polly three confirmed kills had DK not managed to cure Diddy, K. Rool, and (to an extent) Krusha.
- He is indirectly responsible for Klump trying to blow up Kongo Bongo Island - he does absolutely nothing to stop it when he finds out what Klump is doing out of spite for King K. Rool insulting him earlier. Something which even K. Rool himself is horrified about and tries to stop.
- He taunted DK over having to either save the island or Diddy.
- When both DK and K. Rool want a special banana that can cure the disease, he only says he will give it to whoever has more to offer him, meaning he is only in it for himself.
- While most villains are largely played for laughs and affable to an extent, Polly Roger is thoroughly rude, only cares for himself, and is treated considerably more seriously, especially in his final appearance.
- Despite only being a non-anthropomorphic parrot with less resources than King K. Rool and Kaptain Skurvy, he is far more heinous than the latter and manages to stand out compared to the former with having extremely small resources and trying to destroy Kongo Bongo in a more destructive way, not to mention carrying a deadly disease.
- Even though he somewhat helps Donkey Kong on occasions, he quickly betrays him and only does it for his only personal gain and/or to act spiteful towards K. Rool.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- Despite his crimes, Polly still has moments that prevent him from being taken completely seriously, such as getting scared and falling when Cranky's hologram accidentally scares him. Despite this, it is only a minor prevention as these comical moments become progressively less frequent in his later appearances.
Trivia[]
- Polly Roger, mainline King K. Rool and Wizpig are currently the only villains in the Donkey Kong series to be considered Near Pure Evil.
- He is also the only villain from a Mario television series who is considered Near Pure Evil.
- Ironically, in the same show; King K. Rool is Inconsistenty Heinous.
- He, alongside President Koopa and Bowser, are the only official Mario Near Pure Evils to not come from the main Mario series or its related games. He is also the only one not to be a version of Bowser.
- He wasn't Near Pure Evil in his first few appearances, as he mostly just served as a comical minion for Kaptain Skurvy or King K. Rool. However, he became more heinous as time went on, bringing him into the Near Pure Evil status.
