~ Smith's last words before his death. |
Perry Smith is the overarching antagonist of Lucifer, serving as a supporting antagonist in Season 2.
Smith was a corrupt deputy prison warden who had various connections to the Russian Mob and the Chinese Triads. Throughout his screen-time, Smith would repeatedly kill various people just to prevent getting caught and arrested, which included John Decker. His murder of John ultimately caused his daughter, Chloe, to abandon her acting career and instead join the police force, setting up the events of the series.
He was portrayed by Alex Fernandez.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- When John Decker started investigating Smith and uncovered his connections, he send a man to kill him while staging it as a robbery gone wrong.
- He framed an innocent man called Joe Fields for John's murder, ending up with him going to prison for sixteen years.
- Once Fields got out, he ordered his men to kill him and the two guards escorting him.
- He tried to frame another innocent man called Rodney Lam for Fields' murder, although he failed.
- He hired a Chinese assassin called Da Young to kill Boris Sokolov, a Russian mobster who helped Smith in his framing of Fields and Lam, and then make him send Boris' decapitated head to the L.A.P.D.
- Once Young killed Sokolov, he had him killed, too.
- Despite appearing in only two episodes, he has a kill count higher than some of the series' main antagonists, which are Michael and Marcus Pierce who both pass the heinous standards, and even the PE villain Julian McCaffrey.
- He caused everything that has happened in the series by killing Chloe's father, as this is what convinced her to join the L.A.P.D. While it would be shown that Chloe and Lucifer would still meet even if John lived, his death still influences some of the series' episodes as well as Chloe's character.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- While he does have a higher kill count than most, he still fails the Heinous Standards to other villains, such as Dromos (a demon who killed dozens of people), Jason Carlisle (who forces people to mutilate themselves or otherwise a college student dies), Pete Daily (a serial killer who cuts women's vocal cords before killing them), or Julian McCaffrey (despite having a higher kill count than him, McCaffrey is a human trafficker who sells women into sex slavery).
