Penelope Spectra is a supporting antagonist in Danny Phantom. She is the ghost of vanity, who feeds on the misery of others so that her physical form can look young forever.

She was voiced by Tara Strong, who also voiced Carnage in Ultimate Spider-Man.

Her Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • She disguised herself as a school therapist and motivational speaker and would give students "advice" that actually made them feel much worse about themselves. Then, she would feed on their misery, just to make her human disguise look younger. In just a few days, nearly all of the students were depressed and miserable.
  • Finding Danny's misery to be especially beneficial to her, she continuously tormented him in a variety of ways.
    • First, she lied that his sister, Jazz, called him a "loser", clearly enjoying how much it upset him.
    • She allowed her assistant, Bertrand, to terrorize the school. This was so that the two of them could lure Danny out and have him fight this new threat that appeared. However, Bertrand often taunted and mocked him, then made sure to escape right before Danny defeated him, making him upset that he let him get away, which was what Spectra wanted.
    • She made Danny accidentally pull the fire alarm, which caused him to be sent to her office, where she dressed him up in a baby costume, allowing other students to mock him, which only made him more miserable.
    • She planned to vaporize Jazz, the only cheerful student left, in front of the entire school after she gave her speech, in order to greatly amplify the misery everyone was experiencing. She then tried to force Danny to watch, enjoying the fact that he would be devastated by her death, just so that she could continue to feed on his suffering and look young forever.
    • After Danny defeated Bertrand, she attacked him, likely attempting to kill him. Then, she continued to mock him, referring to him as a "freak" and saying that no one would ever care about him, in an attempt to break him further.
  • She sent a massive swarm of ghost insects to Casper High and had them infect all of the students with a virus that gave them ghost powers and made them very sick. She later revealed that this virus would turn them all into lifeless husks and took sadistic pleasure in the fact that she was going to kill all of the students. She also stated that she was only doing this so that she could extract the best qualities of the students in order to create the "perfect" physical body for her.
  • She strapped Danny to an operating table and tried to extract his genetics with a vacuum-like device, so that his powers would keep her new form looking young forever.
  • After Danny tricked her into absorbing the tissue his father used, rather than his powers, she furiously tried to kill him and taunted him that all of his friends would die as well.
  • When she met with Kitty and Ember, Kitty used a spell on Bertrand in frustration, resulting in him disappearing. It was said that if the spell wasn't reversed in 12 hours, then he'd disappear forever. Despite him being Spectra's assistant, she didn't care what happened to him, and was even disappointed when he was brought back. This shows that even if she did care about him originally, she subverted it later.
  • She and her allies planned to use Kitty's spell on every male citizen in Amity Park. While it's not explicitly stated that it would kill them, she was still at least willing to trap hundreds of innocent people in an unknown dimension forever. The three of them also brainwashed all of the female citizens in the city and forced them to celebrate their plan's temporary success.
  • While she did help Danny save Earth, that was likely out of pragmatic reasons, since if Earth was destroyed, she and the other ghosts would be as well.
  • Although Dark Danny and Undergrowth did worse by threatening the entire world, Spectra has significantly lower resources than all of them, and was still able to stand out by attempting to kill dozens of people.

What Prevents Her from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • She appears to have a genuine friendship with Kitty and Ember, since they all get along well with each other.
  • She has a few comedic moments that detract from her heinousness such as her defeat of her fattening up.
  • She has some honor, since she was willing to respect the Christmas truce that ghosts had. Because of the truce, she didn't attack Danny when encountering him that day. She, along with several other villains, were actually against the Ghost Writer for breaking that truce.
