NOTE: This page is only about the original Japanese version of Paragus as the Funimation dub of Paragus was voted as Pure Evil, and thus only the Japanese version of Paragus' info and crimes should be put here. This page is also only about his Z version as his Super version was not voted near pure evil, so only information and crimes about his Z version should be put here.

Broly, the legend. And now he is free. Broken from my control, from anyone's control. He has become what I was honored and afraid he would become. The true Super Saiyan, a killing machine. He won't stop now. Not until he has destroyed this planet and the next. Until we reach our new home world.
~ Paragus, after Broly is unleashed.

Paragas is the father of Broly and the main antagonist in the eighth Dragon Ball Z film Dragon Ball Z: Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan. He is the father of Broly who brainwashes the latter to exact revenge on Vegeta IV.

He was voiced by the late Iemasa Kayumi and Katsuhisa Hōki.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • Though he had a tragedy of being shot and nearly killed by King Vegeta after he failed to convince him not to kill his son Broly, both of them were left to die and barely survived from Frieza's genocide against the Saiyans, this does not hold up due to his actions and the fact that it has nothing to do with his plans to conquer the universe.
  • As a former high-ranking warrior, it is heavily implied that he committed genocide on numerous planets along with the rest of the Saiyans as part of the Planet Trade Organization.
  • Put a mind control device on Broly to control him, although he shows some remorse for having to do this. He had Broly destroy almost the entire Southern Galaxy, killing billions of life in the process and intending to have him do the same to the North Galaxy as well.
  • Enslaved countless Shamolians, including children, on Planet Shamo, working them non-stop and abusing anyone who stopped working.
  • Manipulated Vegeta into coming to Planet Shamio in an attempt to get him and all the Shamolians killed by a comet.
  • When one of his men expressed skepticism for his plan, Paragus personally murders him himself with an energy blast.
  • Unleashed Broly to attack and kill Goku and Vegeta.
  • After realizing that Broly was beyond his control, he attempted to abandon Broly for dead so the comet would kill him.
  • Because the movie is non-canon, he is from a different continuity than villains like King Piccolo, Frieza, Cell and Kid Buu, and does not need to compare to them.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He does show some remorse for having to put the mind control device on Broly and later abandoning him to die, showing he does still love his son to an extent.
  • His death is played for some sympathy since there is sad music when he gets killed by Broly.

Trivia[]

  • His Super version doesn't qualify as Near Pure Evil due to never controlling Broly to destroy the entire Southern Galaxy, making him fail the massive Heinous Standards of Dragon Ball and also having his tragedy still holds up.
