Ozzy is the main antagonist of The Land Before Time II: The Great Valley Adventure.
He is Strut's older brother and his boss, who wants to eat eggs and make his brother just like him. This brings him into conflict with the main characters, specifically after he attempts to steal Ducky's sibling and was foiled by them.
He was voiced by Jeff Bennett.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- Throughout the film, he makes several attempts to eat eggs, thereby regularly attempting to commit infanticide.
- He attempts to eat an egg of a Maiasauras, then after being briefly foiled attempts to eat it and another egg.
- He attempts to eat Ducky's unhatched sibling, nearly succeeding. This attempt is also taken somewhat more seriously than the other ones.
- He makes a final attempt at egg-eating by raiding a Pteranodon's nest and attempting to eat an egg.
- He does all of this with sadistic glee, licking his mouth and taking his time to eat the eggs.
- The movie makes it clear he doesn't have to do this, as his species can eat leaves as shown by Strut. Ozzy even acknowledges himself as picky.
- He abuses his own younger brother throughout the movie, by punching him, making him do hard work, starving him, and endangering his life on two occasions by throwing him off a cliff and then showing him out of his way to run away first when lava is coming for them.
- What's worse, he says "You first!" while throwing him off the cliff, but says "I'm always first!" after shoving him out of his way to escape the lava first, showing he's a major hypocrite.
- While he does want his brother to be more like him by eating eggs, and does agree with his plan to throw Littlefoot off the Great Wall, given the above points, the fact he doesn't praise him for the plan, and the fact he berates Strut later all show he sees his brother as a virtual extension of himself he feels free to ditch when his own life is threatened, and only agrees with him out of mutual hatred of Littlefoot.
- He threatens the Gang of Five to stay away from him and Strut if they interfere with his attempts to eat eggs.
- After he views the Gang of Five as having interfered, he tries to make it so that they die by being burned to death by lava.
- He attempts to throw Littlefoot off the Great Wall near the end.
- He seems to hate anyone who eats leaves out of bigotry as he shows an incredible hatred of Strut eating vegetation and says "Say bye bye, Leaf Eater!" while trying to throw Littlefoot off the Great Wall.
- He overall have no redeeming qualities or a tragic backstory, unlike what most antagonists in the series have, that being either generic predators who eat to survive, or having at least some redeeming qualities. Unlike them, he attempts to commit kills beyond the heroes or people who become heroes, that being infanticide, which is a unique crime.
- While he is heavily comedic, such as his failures to eat the eggs being played for laughs, him singing a hammy song about wanting to eat eggs, him abusing and endangering his own little brother being played comically most of the time, him falling from the bridge while trying to escape the lava flow, and him scrambling in fear during his defeat, he is taken seriously by everyone in-universe, with his worst acts, such as trying to eat the eggs with babies in them and attempting to burn children in lava, being played for horror. Furthermore, most of his comedic moments are more on Strut's part than his.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He slightly fails the system standards to the other dinosaurs, due to trying to eat others being very common among dinosaurs, despite being the only one trying to eat eggs containing babies and burn children in lava. Even his idea to kill Littlefoot initially comes from his brother Strut who's also a dinosaur.
Trivia[]
- He is the only The Land Before Time villain to be Near Pure Evil.
