Her Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- Though she leads the kidnapping of hundreds of young owlets to use for Surtr's cause at St. Aegolius, it's not shown that Surtr had her do this specifically the way she did.
- She has Tyto owlets enlisted to become soldiers of the Pure Ones under brutal training methods and teaches them not to show any sympathy for the other owl races, while non-Tytos are forced to be slaves who pick out metal flecks from other owls' pellets that torture them and make them weaker.
- She has the enslaved owlets moonblinked, which is when they get exhausted and collapse unconscious after trying to stare at the moon too long and forget their identities upon waking up.
- It's revealed that the moonblinked slaves are tortured by the metal flecks that they carry into the pots the bats use, as Soren is shown being tortured in the process as he is unable to endure the pain he's going through and leaves him with a weakened gizzard.
- She doesn't actually care about Kludd, seeing him as nothing more than a pawn for her and Surtr's plan to kill the Guardians. She only wanted him to become a soldier for the Pure Ones to fuel her racism against non-Tytos and make him an example of what a Pure One should be.
- Despite acting politely to Kludd when she asks if he wants to stay with Soren, she's really only testing his loyalty to her and is only impressed that he turned against him. Later on, she asks him for an offering to see if he's truly loyal to Surtr.
- She makes a competition where the Tyto owlets are forced to chase after the bluebird and fight to get to it first, just to test their brutality.
- She murders Grimble when he helps Soren and Gylfie escape to Ga'Hoole where the Guardians live. She holds no remorse for this, and only sees it as an unfortunate accident.
- When Kludd reveals he has a sister named Eglantine, Nyra has him take the latter to St. Aegolius where Surtr is making his plans, stating that the young Tytos will be their successors.
- She moonblinks Eglantine alongside Kludd after Surtr's speech so that she would forget anything about her identity and be forced to become a Pure One when she is old enough.
- Under Surtr's orders, Nyra calls for the bats to kill off all the Guardians of Ga'Hoole by making them bleed to death after they are lured into his and Allomere's trap.
- She tries to help Surtr kill Lyze of Kiel, named Ezylryb, who is his long-time nemesis.
What Prevents Her from Being Pure Evil?[]
- She is slightly honorable, as she makes a gesture for Kludd to release the bluebird that the Tyto owlets were using during their training. Since she could've talked with Kludd afterwards without making said gesture and had no reason to do so because it leaves her unable to use it for training other Tytos, this isn't a pragmatic act.
- She genuinely cares about Surtr as she is left stricken with grief when Soren kills him, which is when she has the remaining Pure Ones retreat alongside her.
Trivia[]
- She of one of the two villains from Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole to be Near Pure Evil, the other one being Kludd.
